The all-consuming debate over health care has effectively sucked all of the oxygen out of the policy world leaving little room for discussion, let alone action on other major elements of the progressive agenda—or so it would seem.

The mammoth bills winding their way through Congress will certainly upend our health care sector, if they are enacted. Little known, however, are several provisions that will provide an enormous pay-off to one of the Democrat parties most loyal constituency—Big Labor.

The Obama campaign spent much of 2008 writing checks to various left-leaning interest groups who saw the opportunity to cash in on long-standing priorities that would finally be achievable with a Democratic Congress and a liberal president. Now, these groups are finding that no one is available to cash these checks as long as the administration is laser focused on reconfiguring one sixth of the American economy.

But organized labor has sought to turn this situation into a new opportunity. By throwing themselves into the health care debate and mobilizing their resources behind passage of the Democrat proposal, labor has been rewarded with the ability to shape the content of the health care legislation and to begin to collect on its political debt.

Here is the comment I posted on the web page: YIPPEE! I wanted to do back flips when I read this!!!!! Finally, the connection to Big Labor is out there. The Dems have very successfully played the old game of smoke and mirrors, focusing the discussion on "the public option". They're really good at that - distracting the detractors. While everyone is focused on that one aspect, they are smugly tucking away all kinds of provisions to help their friends, the unions. As if the bailout of the UAW wasn't enough!

And another thing .... One more way that the proposed bill (I know, what bill?) will aid unions is - HOW MANY TENS OF THOUSAND OF NEW GOVERNMENT WORKERS WILL WE HAVE TO HIRE TO ADMINISTER THIS MESS?! Add up those legacy costs and you can triple/quadruple the cost of this bill!</i>

Don’t just focus on the SEIU. The growth in Government jobs will be breathtaking! Those are union workers also! And guess who they vote for!

The Stimulus, Health Care and Cap & Trade are nothing more than plans to change this country forever in one quick sweep.

Every policy that the ‘bummer has put through since inauguration has been payback to his constituency groups.

Even further, they’ve been de facto reparations. I bet if you take a look at the membership of the particular unions that will benefit, you’ll see a disproportionate “minority” representation.

I was so excited when this came out on biggovernment.com's inaugural posting on Sept. 10. Finally, someone was ready to expose the role of Big Labor in the health care bill(s). But, not a word since. We have to find a voice for this issue. Labor Unions and Obama have it all figured out. Pass legislation based on "compassion" and write it to grow Big Labor.

We are headed into a time when labor unions will quadruple their membership and their power - auto industry takeover, Cap and Trade, Health Care, Student Loan program, etc.......
