ABC News has learned that President Obama will be meeting with 16 Democratic senators (and one "Independent Democrat") this afternoon at the White House.

They are: Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, Mark Warner of Virginia, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Evan Bayh of Indiana, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Tom Carper of Delaware, Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, Mark Begich of Alaska, Mark Udall and Michael Bennet of Colorado, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Bill Nelson of Florida, Kay Hagan of North Carolina, Herb Kohl of Wisconsin, and Independent Democrat Joe Lieberman of Connecticut.

I was in Nebraska last week and the amount of direct TV pressure on Ben Nelso to vote against Obamacare, to support a filibuster, etc was impressive. He’s gotta cave if he likes being in Congress. States like Nebraska will support conservative Democrats who take good care of the farmers back home, but reject this radical crap and are very protective of the elderly.

I just called my senator’s office to urge a “no” vote. They didn’t ask, but I told them I objected to the use of the IRS as a health care “enforcer”, among other reasons. Don’t know if my phone call will make a difference or not, but I can say I tried.

Well, what can they do to Joe Lieberman politically that they haven’t already done? Remember they ran that liberal guy in the primary last time he was up for election, and Lieberman won as an independent in the general election.

The others will be subject to political pressures but Joe Lieberman is already “dead meat” in the Democrat party.
