WASHINGTON (AP) - With negotiations on a new international climate treaty proving difficult, the Obama administration's chief climate negotiator on Thursday called on the Senate to act as soon as possible and pass legislation to control the gases blamed for global warming.
Todd Stern, the State Department's special envoy for climate change, told a House panel that it was critical for the Senate to pass legislation to give the U.S. the "credibility and leverage" that it needs to convince other countries to reduce their pollution.
While Stern cited progress, he said there's still a divide between developing countries worried that emissions limits will hinder economic growth, and developed countries, which know that global warming cannot be slowed without the participation of fast-growing economies like China and India.

I think India and China have both adamantly and repeatedly stated that they’re not playing.
In politics, “urgency” is code for passing bad policy before it is exposed. With the present lying trash inhabiting the halls of power in Washington, everything is urgent. It is urgent to pass horrible legislation before too many people figure out what kind of lie the goons are pushing onto them. It’s all about destroying America before the stupid masses realize what is happening.

On a peripherally related subject, I’ve always found it interesting that the “experts” refer to them as “greenhouse” gases.
I’ve been in a LOT of greenhouses and none of them smelled like THAT!

Oh, and did anyone make the parallel between Van Jones' excuse for signing the truther petition - that he didn't realize what he was signing? Is that what's happening with all these bills that "must be passed now"?
I'm still waiting for hearings discussing the science relating to the cause before we address actions to correct that will have little to no impact.
Does anyone care to guess what the mighty 0's next three years will be like? Should we have a competition on the predictions we can come up with? What bills will he try to push?
