The person pulling the trigger is always responsible for every single round fired...no excuses.

I agree.....never said otherwise.

But the notion that one should never fire unless they know 100% where the bullet will end will mean one will never fire in a 2AM home invasion. My only point. It's always a risk.....and you can only do your best.

Maybe you should have watched it to the end. The birdshot did not penetrate thru the second layer of sheetrock, so when you add insulation, brick (possibly), then the exterior of your neighbors house, it's a pretty safe round to use by comparison

But in the video it was also stated that long guns are not ideal for turning corners because they can be grabbed, a consideration for me.

I was referring to what your lawyer might say to a jury, not to their actual effectiveness. I imagine they are pretty effective because they expend all their energy on their target, rather than the walls (or people) behind the target.
