LOS ANGELES -- Police in Los Angeles are offering a $1 million reward for information leading to the recovery of a multimillion dollar collection of original Andy Warhol artwork stolen from a West Los Angeles home.
The thefts happened between Sept. 2 and 3 at the home of businessman Richard L. Weisman on Angelo Drive, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
An employee arrived at the home Sept. 3 and immediately noticed the artwork missing from the dinning room walls. The worker then went to a neighbor's house and called police.
Among the stolen collection were 10 pieces made between 1977 and 1979 depicting famous athletes, police said. A portrait of Weisman was also taken.
Anyone with information regarding this theft was urged to call the Los Angeles Police Department's Art Theft Detail at (213) 485-2524 or 1-877-LAPD-24-7.

burglary most foul.
I love Warhol. Hope the owner gets them back.
LA Art Theft Detail: “Don’t worry, sir, there are elephants who can paint better. Let me give you a few numbers in Thailand...”
If I had a million dollars, I’d pay the burglar to keep that “art.”
And, tell me again, “Why? Why is a reward being posted?”
Shouldn’t they give the thief a “Thank You” card?
Wonder what the LAPD offers for information leading to the arrest of a junkie-gangbanger who beats an elderly lady to death in East L.A. for her $150 Social Security check?
Oh....never mind. Was a stupid question.
why take em in the first place.
One man said his business burned down and he was able to retire on the insurance money.
The other man then said: “Me too, except my business was destroyed in a flood.”
To which the first man replied: “How do you start a flood?”
No problem here - I’ll buy the same photostock, a couple dozen magic markers, and I’ll make him an extra set in case they get stolen again.
You referring to this?: Police in Los Angeles are offering a $1 million reward (and Calif is going broke?)
How many minutes is the reward good for?
Sure they weren’t thrown out by accident?
Ah, yes. Stealing from dinning room walls. ;)
I hope these items are recovered. It sounds like it was an amateur working, too, who steals a picture of Weismann? obviously,on the art black market it will turn up along with the others but to re-sell a pic of the owner? too amateurish. Now with the others they will have to “sleep” a few years hidden away or sold quietly .......the black market in art is very intriguing.
Warhol = overrated
Of course anyone who wanted to retain their “cred” in the artistic community should NEVER offer a negative opinion of his “art”...
