Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein told the San Francisco Chronicle: I just find that if youre going to remake a sixth of the American economy, its very difficult at this time of great economic angst.
She is actually with Republicans in wanting to open up insurance. Currently, states control health insurance. Under the Interstate Commerce Clause, congress could indeed open insurance competition across state lines.
Now just think about that a moment. Universal health care has been the liberal wet dream of the past 97 years. They finally have the president, they have the Congress and they have the Great Depression II to do it and
I just find that if youre going to remake a sixth of the American economy, its very difficult at this time of great economic angst, Feinstein said.
That is an odd phraseology for a liberal. Perhaps the crowd above has some influence.
But wait. This interview looks to be before the 9/12 Tea Party.
Hmm.
The phrasing . could it be?
No. It could not be.
But it does sound an awful lot like something Rush Limbaugh would say
The San Francisco Chronicle said: Feinstein echoed the alarm of many governors, including Californias Arnold Schwarzenegger, that states can ill afford a large expansion of the Medicaid program for the poor to cover some of the uninsured. States share Medicaid funding.
Hmm. So it is not just her. Medicaid is breaking the budgets of 50 of the 50 states. Medicaid needs a bailout.
And the president wants to expand government health care?
Feinstein said: There is real concern over debt and deficits, and whether this bill will create additional entitlements. Thats important to me and I think its important to them.
Hmm. Maybe President Obama had it backwards. Maybe you cannot get anywhere if you do not listen to Rush Limbaugh.
And Sean Hannity.
And Glenn Beck.
And Sarah Palin.
And the American people.

America is unemployed and broke. We can’t afford “free healthcare” at this time.
If Obama has lost Feinstein, then WOW, because she is as liberal as they come, she is even as far as liberals go along with Barbara Boxer. If Feinstein flips, that is HUGE
For whatever her motivation she’s been saying this for a while.
She did same to Hillary’s plan. Good work to all of you who put the pressure on.

Don’t trust her!
The ONLY reason Feinstein would “switch” is because she sees the writing on the wall.....the American people are speaking....and, they do NOT like Obomba’s policies...and she wants to get re-elected!
I am really surprised. Feinstein is talking sense. But I don't know if she means this or is just playing fake.
“..and she wants to get re-elected!”
and Zero does not have a snow balls chance in hell!
With Feinstein the radar goes up...what financial ox of hers is getting gored with National Healthcare looming? Is she in the back pocket of some Insurance giant? OMG—I’m sounding like a liberal democrat!
Feinstein is a liberal, but she’s also a grown up. She does not want to risk her status as the “most popular politician in California,” and she has well-developed political intuition. She’ll still vote the wrong way, if the bill comes up in this present form, but she will brush it off the same way Clinton did when he signed what he claimed was a less than perfect welfare bill.
I know. After squeaking through the 1994 elections (when many a long-sitting Dem was flushed) Mrs. Feinstein actually showed some humility and said that she had gotten the message that the Federal Government was getting too big ... 5 months later she's back on-board voting for every Government expanding program...
So I agree - some times some sensible words come out of her mouth - but her track record shows she as big a left-wing lib as the rest of them (albeit our other esteemed Californian Senator, Her Highness Madame Boxer, is in a class by herself).
The reality is that her internal polling numbers must really look like crap!
I was doing my almost daily faxes to senators and rep using www.faxzero.com for 2 free faxes per day.
I went to their web sites to get in-state phone and fax numbers to call and fax. I wrote them down on a piece of paper to refer to. I then do my faxes and call.
In doing this I think I found another Dem Senator who is getting wishy wash. It is that slack tooth idiot Gomer Pyle pretend-hillbilly doofus Bill Nelson.
He shovels tens of billions to NASA when they say they thing their is water on Mars or Neptune. Half wit.
He looks like he knows that ObamaCare is not a winner in a state with a lot of seniors.
Keep calling and faxing.
bttt
Maybe, but she's not up for another three years, the same as Zero...of course, Zero said today that "they couldn't stop us"...of course, that was the case back in January...proves they're looking more for cover than for true bi-partisanship...
It is that slack tooth idiot Gomer Pyle pretend-hillbilly doofus Bill Nelson.
LOL Game, set, match! That will go over big in this state but you forgot Beady Eyes (from Dick Tracy).
Love that pic!
Not a surprise.
When Boma was giving his speech the other night, a camera
shot of her sitting with a look of concern, not cheering on.
Am no fan of DiFi but on few occasions she will give more thought to a bill unlike Babs Botoxer who is down the line
Left.
Exactly. These liberals put self interest above all else, no principles, no scruples. She is sensing trouble in paradise.
The cameras at one point during Obama’s speech panned Senator Feinstein. Everyone around her was clapping like crazy and she just sat there with a benign look on her face and was definitely not clapping. At the time I thought it was odd. We will most certainly be calling her office next week. What the heck. Boxer on the other hand is a lost cause.
Feinstein will vote for Obamacare, in spite of the disaster it obviously will be. She will dutifully vote “yea” because it is more important to close ranks with the Party and win one for the team than to do the responsible and prudent thing and vote “no.”
She goes with waht the polls say. I was going to write that she was a poll watcher, but that seems so wrong.

That's a terribly precise number.
“We can’t afford “free healthcare” at this time.”
We can’t afford “free healthcare” EVER.
There is a practical reason our Founding Fathers wanted limited government.
The federal government is an incompetent landlord.
if difi is saying this, i must rethink my position on this issue, i haven’t agreed with one thing she has said in 30 years.
At least she is still ugly, in this respct dems rarely disappoint.
Feinstein is 100% in favor of “insider” capitalism — as long as it enriches her hubby’s business enterprises. Obama must be putting the pinch on some of her crony-capitalist sweetheart deals.
Oh no, here we go again: using the Interstate Commerce Clause to help concentrate more power into Washington & away from the states. I thought that tyrannical mindset was one of the many things that today's protest was supposed to be AGAINST!
Sure, I would love to see the American people have the choice of buying insurance from any company across the nation -- but does it have to be done via the force of the federal government? Can't We The People get more involved in our own state government & have the state legislatures make the changes themselves?
AGAIN, I say that the Republicans are no different from the Dims when it comes to twisting the meaning of the ICC, ignoring the 10th Amendment, & empowering the feds over the states...it's just the specific issues on which they disagree. The end result has proven to be a massive irresponsible behemoth lovated in D.C.
Bet you are correct about Bama squeeze on Feinstein’s financial ‘empire’ somehow. Feinstein also caused a flap objecting when Leon Panetta got hired to lead the CIA. There’s some love lost between DiFi and the Zero—maybe more stuff hidden behind the scenes.
And why was she chosen to MC the inauguration stage? Bama placating her somehow?
Great pictures of 9/12 DC! Great.
That is interesting. I wonder who....I sure hope Beck has security.
Feinstein most likely favors a one-payer system i.e. the government, but she’s probably looked at the numbers (and her own chances of re-election) and figured out they don’t add up. I’d bet many Dems, even the hard leftists, are looking at Obama’s health-care pipe dream and are concluding it’s more like a crack-pipe dream. From a crackpot.
