NO, MR. PRESIDENT
Weekly Standard ^ | September 13, 2009 | Bill Kristol

Posted on 09/13/2009 9:21:51 AM PDT by greyfoxx39

In his 60 Minutes interview to be aired tonight, President Obama apparently says, "I intend to be president for a while and once this bill passes, I own it....I'm the one who's going to be held responsible. So I have every incentive to get this right."

No, Mr. President. It’s not about you. If legislation passes, you don’t own it.

We all own it. Any health care bill will become part of the U.S. Code, not simply an item on the Obama White House web site. We will all feel its effects. We are all responsible for the future of our country. Here the people rule.

-SNIP-

-- if the Democratic Congress jams this legislation down the people’s throat -- then the Republican party will have to say: We do not yield. We do not acquiesce. And we will take this issue to the country in 2010 and 2012, with the purpose of repealing this dangerous and damaging legislation.

In Obama’s mind, it’s all about him.

Maybe the GOP and others will have the guts to do this. I think there’s going to be massive civil resistance to this “health care” garbage if they do enforce it. One of the reasons I think they’re giving it a fairly long lead-in is that they want to give people time to simmer down and mistakenly think it won’t really have any effect, and they also want to put the enforcement structures into place before they even try it.

The downfall of the arrogant is always their arrogance.

Poor Obummer doesn’t know the different between ruling and a representative republic.

Neither does just about anyone in congress, or the American people for that matter. All I ever hear is democracy bantered around. They have no concept of a democratic process in a representative republic form of government. The comment, we won, get over it, proves that point.

How about you, your family, and your mother-in-law go on this plan along with us? And if people are turned down for care and die because of that, you'll be responsible?

I fear that may be correct. Obama's "Civilian Defense Force" to be the enforcers?

I saw a sign yesterday that read, "We came unarmed THIS time"! I pray that the Thugrocracy administration does not ignite something that will pit Americans against each other with more than words.

All I ever hear is democracy bantered around.

You are right, and the media and Obummer want it that way ... But then again, we are educating plenty and can continue to do so. First they come for the language ... Read Alinsky.

The democracy bit plays into the hands of the ones who want to use the downtrodden for their own nefarious ends. The problem always is the downtrodden are not reliable handmaidens.

To “own” something, you have to pay for it. He has no clue how this grandiose monument to himself will be paid for.

BO is so arrogant he doesn’t even know how outrageous this attitude is to the taxpayers who will, unfortunately, “own” the trillions of dollars of debt foisted on them by the Democrats if HellCare passes.

By saying he will own the law and be responsible if passed for health care. I can then depend on Obama and his family will be included in the system and that the govt health care he now has, along with the other congress critters will be eliminated. If not, then they can go stuff it. Amen.

Well, the IRS is already in place and will be given far more power with fines and levies against “dissidents”. Even if a doctor, or a large number of doctors, decide to go their own way, take cash payments, and not participate in the government plan, I can see them being heavily fined and maybe even imprisoned for “endangering” the citizenry.

You are right, there are as many pages of expanding the reach of the IRS in that bill as there are about health issues...

Who has studied that bill closely enough to recognize just what all is concealed in it? None of the so called Republicans, that is for sure.

I think we Conservatives need to have more than one prong in our attacks on the Administration by Zer0bama.

We need to produce FACTS about each of the bills the Democrats propose and we need to REPORT his “Executive Orders.”

Lots of letters to the editors and blog reports. ADVERTISE the FACTS.

As I recall, HilaryCare would have imposed fines and criminal penalties (including imprisonment) on doctors who practiced outside the government system. Even if such provisions are not included initially in ObamaCare, they will soon be added.

I do think the congress critters are waking up ~ slowly, but I think it’s coming. If they didn’t understand before, yesterday’s march out to have driven the point home. If you figure between 1 and 2 million turned out and for every one of those there were at the very least 10 people that wanted to go and couldn’t for various reasons....that’s a lot of people.

I'll try to take that phrase apart, bit by bit.

"I intend to be president"

Subtext: because he knows he's not legally, Constitutionally eligible to be president, he says his intention is sufficient. Sort of like the shoplifter caught walking out of the store with merchandise: "Oh Officer, I'm innocent, I intended to pay for this."

We all know what the road to hell is paved with, right?

"for a while"

Subtext: veiled threat of the period being indefinite in nature and not subject to any legal, Constitutional force. Immovability.

There was a guy on FOX today that said that there will be doctors available, and already planning to offer good care for those that can pay.

My best guess is that there will be places offshore for those with money.

Sad part is for those who cannot afford it. This is what happens when the government sticks is nose where it does not belong. Help the poor, my ass, they are going to cause death to the poor. What does anyone expect for supposedly cheap healthcare?

I really worry that the arrogance of the admin and the democrap reps and senators is a sign that they have been assured by the WH that no matter what, IF there is an election in 2010, it's already decided in their favor.

Factor in the deadly work already done by groups such as ACORN, SEIU, and the universities and colleges, THIS project is ongoing.

With Eric Holder in charge of the InJustice Dept. we will see more of the Black Panthers at the polling places with their weapons at the ready, assured that they will be untouched by the "law". ONE of them has already been certified as a "poll watcher".

Figures. Black Panther Who Threatened Voters In Philly Is a Credentialed Dem Poll Watcher

Hope I'm just giving in to my "tin foil hat" nature.
