I think there is tone deafness to the loose use of 'racist/homophonbe/whatever'. Obama offered to rise above race in this country, and indeed some declared the end of the race wars with his election. What we're seeing now, IMO, is just the old knee-jerk reactions from a group that's watching their champion and ideology flounder. IOW, they're like old generals--they fight their wars the only way they know how: the good old-fashioned way.
