IIRC, the Roman salute consisted of the upraised right arm with the palm out and fingers joined. This was used by American schoolchildren to salute the U.S. flag up until 1918 or so. Of course that gesture was later illegitimized.

Roman soldiers acknowledged a superior by striking the chest over the heart with the right hand, depicted several ways.

BTW, veterans and soldiers in civvies may now salute the flag at present arms, instead of placing the hand over heart.

Knight comes up with conspiracy theory about the 9-12 Logo (seems libs wear tinfoil,too), ,calls FreedomWorks an astroturf organization, and then quotes such a reliable source as David Schuster for crowd estimates?
