Expand that thought. All the Acorn workers are black women from inner cities. All have passed through the turbulent teens and twenties and are now likely the grandmothers caring for their illegitimate daughters illegitimate kids. Among those close in the community are bound to be prostitutes.
The are presented with a prostitute seeking to better herself but is prevented by the man. Acorn is all about being anti-the man. They just can’t help themselves. They have a chance to make a difference.
