A million or more rock Washington--Taxpayer march could be biggest rally ever in capital.

WASHINGTON – The capital was rocked today by a taxpayer march and rally that could be the biggest protest ever – potentially dwarfing the Million Man March and the Promise Keepers Rally.

Though crowd estimates vary from as low as 60,000 to 70,000 according to ABC News to a high of 2 million by London Daily Mail, photographs and videos of the march and rally demonstrate its enormity.

The taxpayers stormed Washington, D.C., today, taking their fight against excessive spending, bailouts, growth of big government and soaring deficits to the front door of the U.S. Capitol.

All week citizens have been heading to the Hill by the busloads for the showdown today. The Tea Party Patriots' "Tea Party Express" national bus tour has been hosting a series of tea party rallies all across the nation. A caravan of buses, speakers and entertainers arrived in Washington, D.C., just in time for the march. The taxpayers have paid their own way to the event.

The White House said Friday it was unaware of the rally. President Obama has traveled to Minneapolis, Minn., to promote his health-care plans at a rally there.

But so many taxpayers showed up on Pennsylvania Avenue that the crowd ran out of room and the march was forced to begin early.

WND was at the scene to get crowd reaction and take photos of the protest.

Wow, my numbers were WAY off!!! I knew a lot of people were there, but it seemed like a few hundred thousand when we marched along. After seeing the first aerial shot (see link), my guess was really off!! Million is not even out of the question...possibly 2 million? My numbers were way off...I apologize...

Don’t feel badly, everyone has a different number and some papers haven’t even admitted that if happened. Now if we could just get a count of all of the parties combined, wow, would that be a number!

The “Times Online” reported 2 million, citing Homeland Security sources. Washington Park Police reported 1.2 million by 12:54 PM. Even with all of that, I’ve been asking folks around Charlotte, NC if they knew how many people showed up at the protest in Washington on Saturday. The overwhelming response has been, “What Protest?”! Unless the media is won back and the general public educated, this is going to end up in a revolution.

The British paper picked up what malkin wrote which she got from a Tweat.

The paper has since reduced that number to “up to 1 million”.

The Washington park Police did not give an estimate.

It will get around....believe me, it will. The more the MSM ignores it the more people will put the pieces together. granite, not everyone will, but most will.

BTW, if it was not a “big deal” then how come it has culminated into such a huge gathering? Why are RECORD numbers tuning into talk radio ,Beck, Hannity and conservative sites?
perhaps the people you talked to live secluded lives. Gosh, all people here in NJ I have talked to know about townhalls, the protests, etc. It is building...

Don’t apologize...I was there also, and there was nowhere near a million.

250,000 is a reasonable estimate. Compare this rally to the Promise Keepers. They had the entire mall packed and overflow into the Washington Monument. There were not nearly as many people there Saturday.

Nonetheless, it was a huge turnout, far more than anyone expected! No need to ruin that with wild exaggerations about the attendance.

Wrong KKK in 1920’s had 3 to 4 million.

OK...so it should read "Biggest pro-American rally ever..."
A mere slip of the keyboard finger.

Include in those numbers all the people that were at Tea Partys across the nation on the same day. It would be interesting to see the numbers. Numbers, by the way, the administration will ignore.

I, too, was there - born, raised and still living in New Orleans - am 60+ and I know crowds - well over a million - you have good common sense, its just your eyes that need improvement.

If you look at the pictures from above and compare it to this

Does it look like more than 250,000? Sure does to me.

Lots of discussion about crowd size here.

I was there and started out thinking it was about 70k based on my observations. After investigating a little further, I concluded it was likely in the neighborhood of 200k, which is a huge success by just about any standard.

We must remember that for every person who went, there were three or four who couldn’t physically make it but would have liked to have gone. So next year: we can do a “buddy” system: Sign up to go and bring a friend! Double the fun.

Eventually there will be an accurate count...we will see.

In the mean time, I’ll pit my estimating skills against anyone....have you ever seen 180,000 people at one time? I have, repeatedly.

Estimates over half a million is ridiculous, just as ridiculous as the media’s 60-70k. That is about the number that were assembled in Freedom Square when the march started.

Take a look at the overhead for the Promise Keepers, and then one for Saturday...that will give you a good idea. Promise Keepers had between 700k and 1m, and Saturday was nowhere near the size.

It was still a great turnout, but grossly overstimating the attendance gives the libs ammunition to call us liars.

BEWARE!
