CNN: Gibbs on Whether Race Impacts Obama's Detractors(oddly Gibbs "celebrates" economic collapse)

JOHN KING (host): If you pick up Maureen Dowd's column in The New York Times this morning, she goes through Congressman (Joe) Wilson's statement, some of the other things, and she says in her -- she has come to the conclusion, quote: "Some people just can't believe a black man is president and will never accept it."

Does the president believe that some of these attacks are based on his race?

WHITE HOUSE PRESS SEC. ROBERT GIBBS: I don't think the president believes that people are upset because of the color of his skin. I think people are upset because on Monday we celebrate the anniversary of the Lehman Brothers collapse that caused a financial catastrophe unlike anything we've ever seen.

We've had to do some extraordinary things, both this administration, the previous administration, to rescue the financial system, to ensure that our domestic auto industry didn't go out of business, and to stimulate the economy. That certainly cost a lot of money, but it's something that we had to do.

The president doesn't want to be somebody who runs auto companies or bails out banks. I do think -- I do think, again, this rhetoric often just gets way too hot. I think what we have to all do is take a step back, take a deep breath, and remember who we're here to represent: millions of Americans that have health insurance but are watching their premiums double.

Millions of Americans that don't have health insurance and are literally one doctor visit away, one thing from a doctor -- one diagnosis away from losing their house.

...I think that would be a big boost in confidence in our government, because we'd be addressing a problem that has been facing millions and millions of people for quite some time.

“I don’t think the president believes that people are upset because of the color of his skin. I think people are upset because on Monday...blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...”

It’s the color of his politics AH.

I see NOTHING to "celebrate" in that event. We did not "celebrate" the anniversary of the 9-11 attacks.

But the DNC was able to get the White House and nationalize industries by not letting a man-made crisis (whether deliberate or accidental) "go to waste" as they put it.

What did Barney Frank KNOW and WHEN DID HE KNOW IT?

If that was a photo of a Republican with his hand on a woman’s ass, the GALS would be charging up the Capitol steps.

Of course they celebrate it—Obama would have never beat McCain if it hadn’t been for the financial meltdown. Gibbs would be hawking used cars at a dealership in Joliet if it weren’t for the collapse of Lehman, etc.

There was “sex scandal” that broke last week where a Republican reportedly was caught on tape bragging about some girl he was banging who was a lobbyist.

Barney does the same thing to one of the banking guys and there is NO discussion of it in the news, only the internetz.

Barney Frank had oversight and BLOCKED repeated attempts to look into matters before things went “wrong”.

He should have been ANSWERING questions, not asking them.

The banking crisis was an inside job. And the prize was the White House and policies that will affect this nation and the public for the next 50 years.

The chains of socialism will not be easily cast off.

So as Gibbs says, they DO have reason to celebrate the anniversary of the collapse.

Don’t ya know, Democrats LOVE celebrating a good crisis. They see it as a way of passing their Communist agenda

There is an INCREDIBLY RACIST SCREED/RANT on Daily Kos titled, “I Am Scared For My Black Husband”, that is the top of the Rec list right now.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/9/14/781824/-Upate:-Thanx.-I-am-scared-for-my-black-husband-

“Many AA are speaking out but not being covered and we are very upset. Even more so because now they are saying that Congress should not reprimand Wilson for treating the Prez with so much disrespect.

He treated the Prez like a boy in front of the world and this is not resting well with many in AA community along with the blatant racism against him.”

(SNIP)

“I am truly scared and worried. We are trying to find a job in Canada.

I am worried that if this anger is not stemmed that they could try to hurt black AA men because they are more accessible than Obama. Call me crazy but this thing is really bugging me out.

Something is going on out there and it is not pretty. I hope we can stop it before people are seriously hurt.

I am truly scared for my black husband.”

And out of 600+ comments, many racist, not one, NOT A SINGLE COMMENTOR, dares to point out that it’s DEMOCRATS that are ginning up the racial hatreds right now, and they are doing it for political gain.

Democrats, and their associated groups have turned Racism into a money-making, profitable business, that rakes in tens of millions of dollars every year. But I think they are playing the Race-Card so much, that people have begun to stand up to the demonizations.

He treated the Prez like a boy in front of the world

The man is old enough to run for the White House but he doesn't have the knowledge or experience for the task.

Would you be confident in letting him work as your housing contractor, hiring the labor, not running over budget, and spending time on location at the job?

I do think, again, this rhetoric often just gets way too hot.

That's why the White House is rolling out a program called "New Speak". A less inflammatory way of having discussions.

"Some people just can't believe a black man Marxist is president and will never accept it."

Maureen Dowd is right. I don't like the President's color. He's Red.
