Republican David Vitter says no federal funds should go to the New Orleans-based ACORN organization.
Vitter has introduced an amendment to the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development funding bill that would bar any federal money in that approrpriation from going to ACORN.
"It's certainly not news to anyone that ACORN has been the subject of some controversy over the past year, and last year's presidential election brought to light evidence of ACORN chapters engaging in fraudulent voter registration activities," Vitter said.
"They are currently under federal investigation and this is simply not the sort of organization that should be funded by taxpayer dollars."
Vitter has been an outspoken critic of ACORN and has offered multiple amendments to bar the organization from receiving federal funding. He also block the nomination of Census Director Robert Groves in the hopes of receiving written assurances from the White House that ACORN would not be involved in the 2010 census.
Vitter described the Census Bureau's decision last week to drop ACORN as a partner, "a good, common sense move."
Acorn and the founders as well as all the affiliates.
Makes you wonder when self-proclaimed conservatives want tear down an elected official with an impeccable voting record, especially in the current times in this country. Geez.
Yes, one city in an entire state is what the whole state is about. I guess your lovely Pennsylvania is just like one big inner-city Philly then, right?
Alinsky rule # 10; Keep the pressure on... This is OUR chance to use Alinsky against these Marxists.
Freepers, lets commit to calling at least one US Representative and two US Senators demanding an investigation of ACORN.
You can get extra credit if you call more than three.
KEEP THE PRESSURE ON!
This is the same maneuver they will pull with the "public option"(phony name), take it out, vote on it, put it back. They wonder why we don't trust them and call them liars.
Nope...I'm glad Vitter's doing this. I'd be even happier if someone who wasn't as vulnerable was taking the lead on this. That's not a left problem, that's a GOP problem. ACORN is a bigger target now more than ever due precisely to the release of the undercover tapes. All that's going to make it through the media filter is the irony of a named john lashing out at an organization accused of facilitating prostitution.
You and I know that's not the case, but that's all the average news watcher is going to take out of it, and it's giving fodder to the Lettermans, John Stewarts and Bill Mahers. I'm not afraid of taking the fight to the enemy, but I'm also smart enough not to hand them the ammunition they're going to use against us.
I thought theyre under a new name. Does that include them too?

Right - ACORN/COI - COI = Community Organizations International

Are there other known aliases?
Make the Dems vote in favor of Acorn. Put em on record.

Make the dim bulbs fight for the pimpin’/prositution operation on the floor of Congress.
Im not really big on details, so Ill just say that ACORN is a prostitution ring.

With ties directly to the alleged POTUS.
The ACORN criminal entity is preparing for a ban on “ACORN” funding by rebranding.

Well then, we’ll just have to have a re-banning then...

Wow, one would never know that they promote prostitution and illegal activity like tax evasion.

Community Organizations International (formally Acorn International) is an international federation of community-based non-profit organizations working in countries across the world. It has affiliate offices in Argentina, Peru, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Canada, and India.
Community Organizations International already has an impressive range of achievements across the world. From fighting for issues such as affordable housing, living wages, provision of water and sanitation, education, and healthcare in Latin America to protecting small local retailers in India from the onslaught of multinational corporate retailers and organizing the slum-dwelling waste pickers in the Indian cities, it has had a string of victories and successes.

CUT THE FUNDS. DO AN AUDIT.

Yes! Yes!

Good points...it may be we’re down to a pretty small cadre of conservatives...we’ve got to take action where we can. We need a larger group than just Vitter involved though!
ACORN/COI and all of its associated entities need to be investigated, prosecuted and dismantled. I’m not sure that percent of their funding comes from the feds but I’m sure that a substantial amount comes from foundations (Tides I believe is one).
Bingo!
How dare a news agency try to photograph them attempting to teach people how to break the law!
New Name COI, so refer to them as Acorn/COI.
They’re practically Mother Theresa...:-)
