BELLEVILLE — A Belleville West High School student was beaten aboard a bus on the way to school Monday, and a police spokesman said the beating could be racially motivated.

The 17-year-old victim was white and the teen assailants were black. Police released a video of the beating, which shows the victim being punched repeatedly while other students on the bus gather to watch, some cheering. It doesn't appear that the victim did anything to provoke an attack and tried only to defend himself. Police said it all unfolded in a five-minute span.

The victim was trying to find a seat and was told by two students he could not sit next to them, police said. When he did sit down, one teen tried to push him out of his seat then began grabbing the victim's neck and punching him in the face.

The victim eventually returned to his seat, but another student began taunting him a few minutes later. The victim was then struck in the face.

I hope to God that the family gets an attorney, files charges, demands the arrest of the kids who hit him, and sues the Sh*t out of the school bus company and everyone. And ask for additional damages because it’s a hate crime.

True. In this videotape of the bus beating, I saw a group of sweetfaced young ladies (black) who looked horrified, and their body language showed that they were very upset.

It’s not the black girls so much as the black boys who instigate and perpetrate such violence.

I worry that Blacks are being lumped together as somehow all being responsible for the criminal behavior of such thugs. When I was in 8th grade a Black girl started to push me around. A group of other Black girls came to my defense. So please remember decent people come in all races.

Although I agree with you, I put your response (and my frustration in typing this reply) in the same category as asking the good muslims to stand up and denounce the islamofacists. I am waiting for the majority of blacks who do not stand with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and who agree with Bill Cosby, that the problems in the black community are not the fault of whites but actually the fault of government welfare, the entitlement mentality, and black racism.

When getting good grades is bad because it makes you too “white”, that points to a learned racist response created by multiple generations of confusion brought on by first a demand for integration followed by a demand for segregation. If our mutual optimism is to be confirmed, we need to see a grass roots black effort to denounce the RAP and bling generation, and meaningful movement toward ending the broken record of blaming whites for all of their problems. The animals on the bus this morning were only acting out on the message they continuously receive through the so-called black leadership and black entertainment as promoted by organizations like Acorn and the New Black Panthers.

Patriotic Democrats like JFK and Harry Truman are flipping over in their graves like the positive thinking black leaders who followed Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and actually believed in his message.

This is what a large percentage of blacks are taught from the cradle - beat, kill, steal from, rape, hustle, shakedown, sue whitey - every day, all day. And most of these people are being supported in full or in part by hard working taxpayers like us in one way or another.

Unless and until the stupid “hate crime” status is eliminated through repeal, we suffer an uneven playing field by shunning “hate crime” status for the epidemic of violent black-on-white crime. Until then, we have to fight fire with fire. “Hate crime” status brings enhanced sentencing, so it’s more than just “crap.” Until blacks are punished for attacking whites for their skin color, they aren’t going to get the message that they can’t attack whites for their skin color. The Davies J-Curve is an uncanny way of perceiving social movements: they are the result of empowerment rather than deprivation. Those supressed have no power to weild; as power is gained, impatience for desired outcomes increases, and power is wielded to obtain it. The Civil Rights movement was just so.

I’d say that any J-Curve we might be heading into now with the black community will be one with a conservative bent: expectations for the Obama presidency flatly and already fly far above reality, so whatever of his agenda he passes will not meet those expectations, and the J-Curve gap will explode.

Just think about the black middle and upper classes, and how much their daily expectations diverge from the socialist outcomes Obama is pushing. They will no more like the higher taxes, crappy health services, and flat or inflationary economy that Obama is pushing than conservatives.

I have also taught in an large city public school where the majority of the student body was African-American but my experience was a bit different than the narrative link you provided. On the whole I found the narrative very stereotypically racist and offensive; HOWEVER, I will admit to you that there were some elements of truth to it.
To me, the problem is socio-economic class structure—whether it black or white students involved. Where there was parental involvement, strong spiritual guidance and nurture the black students I taught were very good ones. The girls weren't “fat” or constantly “seeking sex” and the boys weren't disrespectful juvenile trouble makers or gang members. The trouble was that they the ones resembling Steve Irkle were often dominated by bullies (usually the athletic jocks) and so were the girls.
I once had a bright young student named “Linda” and her Wexler must have been off the chart. I was teaching a freshman social studies class on world history (the Enlightenment) and she could actually anticipate the questions I was going to ask. Whether it was Harvey's discovery of blood circulation, Delacroix's paintings of the French Revolution, Diderot's encyclopedia, she knew the history behind it. However, she purposely failed the tests I would give. I called her aside one afternoon and asked her about the marks she made and she began crying...she told me “terrible things can go on in the girl's bathroom if you're acting ‘white!” I told her mother about it and she immediately withdrew her from school and got a scholarship to an Episcopal private school here in Virginia. (I bumped into her mom the other day in the grocery store and learned that Linda is in her second year of med school now.)
IMHO, many good African-American students fall prey to peers much the same way that many conservative college students do to liberal professors when they get to the university level. Just as conservative students are apprehensive about rocking the boat in class, the good African-American just wants to fit in. And who can blame them?
I also would like to point out that the lower class white student—the ones that look like they stuck their face in a tackle box and have more ink on their skin than they do in their ballpoint pens, are just as bad as the ‘hood black rapster and, in many cases, even worse!

Its ironic because whites for the past 40 years have had reduced expectations with the onslaught of quotas, affirmative action, and the belittling of western civilization in general.
