Entrapment n. In criminal law, the act of law enforcement officers or government agents inducing or encouraging a person to commit a crime when the potential criminal expresses a desire not to go ahead. The key to entrapment is whether the idea for the commission or encouragement of the criminal act originated with the police or government agents instead of with the "criminal.
It's turning into quite the morning for NBCers to defend the left on Morning Joe . . .
First, Chuck Todd flatly rejected the notion that the MSM failed to adequately report on Van Jones, suggesting coverage would have been a waste of time. Later, Norah O'Donnell came on and suggested that the video of the ACORN employees giving advice on how to evade the tax laws in setting up a brothel with young illegal aliens "might be viewed as entrapment." Well, yes, it was entrapment, the same type of gotcha entrapment that many media outlets, including NBC, has practiced in the past. These videos couldn’t be used in a court of law, nor should they be. They were aimed at embarrassing and hopefully disabling a disruptive organization, and they did.
But for a reporter to use such language in describing a story that would have been so juicy that NBC would have dedicated a 20 minute prime time slot to? It’s one thing to be critical of gotcha reporting, it’s completely another to try to discount the efforts of others to the point of trying to make meaningless the actions of your own network in the past. They really gotta get out of the tank where they live and take a good look around, as people are starting to forget to feed the fishies, and they’re running mighty short of guppies to consume themselves.
The defense of ‘Entrapment’ requires that the police induce someone to commit a crime when that person is not already pre-disposed to commit such a crime.
Merely providing the opportunity to commit a crime is not entrapment.
Further, ‘Entrapment’ does not apply to an individual acting privately.
God bless these two, they are going to be fried by the media, keep them in prayer. This is the media, talk about wrong headed. Forget ACRON, forget they are ripping off taxpayers left and right. Not only in money, but, in elections and God only knows what else. Forget that ACRON didn't care that these two were talking about nothing less then the sex trade of young girls. The reason Norah seems so confused and indignant is that is what JOURNALISTS USED to do to get a story. Since they are not doing it anymore (unless it suits their agenda ie spitzer) it is up to regular citizens to do citizen journalism. So...all those years we watched 60 minutes ambush people and go under cover was really entrapment. The whole Food Lion sting was “entrapment”, huh? Wow. These people are pathological. They seem devoid of ANY moral bearings whatsoever.

Let’s clarify here. Entrapment is a defense raised by a defendant to a criminal charge. It is not prohibited it is just something you raise to try and get a criminal charge thrown out.
The legal standard for entrapment in most jurisdictions is VERY high and is much stronger than the definition given in this article.
I have not observed an entrapment defense work ever, because you have to show that the defendant would have had no inclination to commit the crime. If I get you to commit a crime, you had the inclination. That is why every police sting you hear about holds up. Entrapment is an almost impossible standard to meet.
Next point, I’ve seen the press pull this kind of crap before. Here in town if you tell the reporter that the democrat mayor said somethiing incriminating in a meeting, the reporter says “Well you know I can’t print that, it’s hearsay”. Suddenly they start playing lawyer and judge in a situation where it does not apply.
This woman is like the rest of the lame stream news media. There hearts have become hard as rocks. The sad thing is, they don’t even realize how sick and twisted they’ve become.

I saw this angry biotch this morning. She had me actually talking ot the television, and using words from my Navy days! I developed a strong dislike for this woman.
