Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) said he would consider running for president in 2012, citing a changing political environment making President Obama seem more vulnerable.
"I think that it's something I would consider," Santorum said during a conference call Tuesday organized by the Republican National Committee (RNC). "But I think that's as far as I'm willing to go three years out."

Run, Rick, Run!
I like it!
good man but
too weak to even win the PA senate race, not a good candidate
Correctamundo.
Agreed.
We need to run new guys and gals, not ex- Senators
No thanks, Mr. Sphincter supporter.
The GOP will never get anywhere it all of its tyres are retreads.
I am so disgusted by Washington I want them all out and grass roots freash people in...
The million dollar question is would any good man or woman succomb to corruption once in DC?
Santorum at the head of a ticket? I don’t see it. But he’d be a great VP candidate, especially for purposes of advising President Palin about parliamentary methods and tactics.
I could get excited about Senator Santorum running for President.
This is unwelcomed news to me. I like him, but for president? I dun’t thing so Luceeee.....
Not on my dime...
Sorry bout my spelling typos typing quick.
ok guy not presidental...always has that look on his face as if his stomach hurts...I Know I know looks shouldn’t be apart of it, but geez he looks like he’s trying to hold in farts
As a former huge supporter of Rick (check my past postings) I urge him to forget this idea. He’s a good man but he’s got a political tin ear and trusted too many people he never should have.
Don’t consider it Rick.
He is a strong conservative.
He is pro life and he is unafraid.
His speech at CPAC was great.
What a joke! He got annhilated running for re-election in 2006 and then moved out of the state.
Hell...right now I could get excited about anybody BUT 0bama. 0bama and McCain campaigned that they SWORE they would do away with big gov. and lobbying corruption.
I’d vote for Ted Nugent right now. I’d vote for a clean slate all around and starting over.
He’ll also be a lighting rod for attacks by the Lavender Mafia in the media over his remarks in the wake of the Supreme Justices’ Lawrence v. Texas decision.
Their hit squad will be like the prop8 and Palinbashing crowd times 10. Bring it.
Please stay out of the race Santorum. All of the 2008 candidates for the GOP nomination should also stay out of the race. We need a strong candidate so that Obummer is not reelected for another 4 years. We don’t need candidates that make people sleepy.
Santorum is far more popular in the rest of the country than he is in PA... most of the rest of the country didn’t see first hand some of the shady say one thing do another crap he pulled when he was a Senator here.
The RNC could do worse, but I don’t think he’ll make it as the candidate.
You must be joking. Santorum was STUPID enough to support Specter when it was demanded by Bush, thus throwing away his OWN senate seat by betraying conservatives in Pa. And he actually believes he could wind up in the white house? Sorry, Rick. Sell me out once, shame on YOU....you know the rest.
>Id vote for Ted Nugent right now. Id vote for a clean slate all around and starting over.
+1000. No more weakling retreads.
LQ
He hadn’t truly lived in the state in a long long time.. like most politicians he moved to DC area. Yes he traveled and visisted the state extensively, but he hadn’t lived in PA truly lived here in a long long time.
no congressmen for president, please. none is fit.
Save your money, Rick
Get your Senate seat back.
Not to mention he backed Arlen Sphincter in the 2006 primaries over a much more conservative candidate. No thanks.
Wrong!
He was already far to the left when you and President Bush supported him against Pat Toomey.
Your history of pandering to the liberal wing of the party will not stand you in good stead if you decide to run for president. I might even put those other RINOs McCain and Guiliani ahead of you on my preference list.
On the other hand you should get along well with Michael Steele and Tom Ridge.
I like his political values but he’d be too polarizing figure to those in the middle and the mid-left. He’s better off in-house and working for whoever runs.
Rick is a good man. He is not perfect but he did win in a crappy state. Far better than Juan McCain.
Since losing badly to Bob Casey Jr. in 2006, Santorum moved to Northern VA. If Santorum runs for President, then which state will Santorum declare to be his home state, PA or VA?
Methinks the purpose of a potential Santorum run is split the socially conservative to prevent Huckabee and Palin from winning and allowing Romney to slip to victory. Remember Santorum endrosed Romney in 2008.
As I said before: Things keep going like this, the Republicans could run Elmer Fudd in 2012, and win!
Make that two votes for Nugent.
Stay in PA, rick.
Sam Brownback redux.
Not a good candidate.
Lost by 17 pts to a TOTAL loser like Bob Casey Jr.
Also, too much of a “Bushie”, you might say.
Same old tired faces? I don’t think so. After going to that 9/12 march, I’m pretty sure folks want a new, fresh start.
OOps, I read that he was running for SENATOR... teaches me not to simply scan the excerpt....
Don’t Run, Rick, Don’t Run (for President!!!)
Ted Nugent & Chuck Norris ....... :-)
Also NO MORE LAWYERS!
He is not in PA any longer...he is a VA resident.
Way too much baggage; he did listen to the wrong people (he chose party over principle...and campaign for Arlen Specter—back when he was an R—over Santorum’s ideological twin, Pat Toomey...the same Pat Toomey who is up by 12 points over Specter right now).
Sorry, Rick. Maybe good for book sales (boy...doesn’t that scenario sound familiar) but not good for getting a Conservative in the White House.
That’s the ticket!!!
Too much of a finger in the wind pansy for my liking.
If for nothing else, it’s good to have another conservative in the mix, vs. a handful of RINOs.
