BELLEVILLE -- A Belleville police spokesman now says an incident where a white student was beaten by teen black assailants on a bus “may not be racially motivated.”
“It was premature on my part,” said Belleville Police Capt. Don Sax. “It was my personal and emotional comment after only seeing the video briefly.”
Sax said police interviewed the 17-year-old Belleville West High student. However, he said he was unaware of what the student told police.
Some of the students on the bus yesterday during the incident cheered the beating, the video shows.
Sax said a formal statement would be made available later today.
“After having reviewed the video, it doesn't strike me nearly as racially motivated,” Sax said.
The about-face came this morning as the story made national headlines. Although, Sax said it was purely his review of the video that changed his mind.

When a couple of black kids beat up a white kid, while other black kids laugh and cheer -- well, there's probably no racial component to it.

Two high school boys get into a fight while all the kids around chant “FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.” I think this has happened in schools every since they made schools. This wouldn’t be news worthy except that the two kids were of a different race.

Your right we need to start calling what it is and by its real name: “Political Corruption” or “Politically Corrupt”!
Political Corruption is when someone else can dictate what you can think, say and do; overriding free thinking, common sense, lawful behavior and your First Amendment freedoms.
If it had been a bunch of white kids beating the crap out of a black kid, the Department of Justice would have already announced a federal investigation into how the civil rights of the black kid were violated, the white kids would be pilloried in the media, Revvum Jackson and Al SharpTON would already be checked into the nearest Hilton near Belleville and holding press conferences demanding more legislation both federal and state to prohibit ‘hate crimes’, and candlelight vigils would be taking place throughout the region with loud mournful wails of ‘weeee shallllll overrrrrcommmmmmeeeee’...
This cop was apparently made aware of the fact that whites CANNOT BE the victims of racist attacks. Only blacks, latinos, Muslims...well, anybody but whites. He was also made aware of the fact that should he draw any other conclusion, he would be pounding a beat in downtown Detroit, by “special request” of the Whitey House!

It was unclear what, if anything, the bus driver did to stop the attack. At one point, before the second attack, a man shouts, “Sit down guys.”
What is standard operating procedure when something like this happens? Continue as if nothing happened? Was the bus driver black also?
So true. A little old lady who lives down the street had an interesting comment about the news of late including the Kanye West dustup. “Black folks better shape up before whites find out that the Saudis will pay $1000 a head for slaves and decide to sell us back.” Yes, she is black. She also told me not to blame her for Obama because she didn’t vote for him! She had me in stitches with her commentary on ACORN which I cannot reprint here.
What’s next? Have the white kid apologize?
It might well have been racially motivated, but I don’t like when it is assumed that race was the motivation whenever blacks beat up whites, or whites beat up blacks (of course the assumption is much more commonly made in the latter case than the former.)
They might have beat him up because he was white, or maybe simply because they are violent, little thugs. I’d think if they interview the victim and the witnesses, it could be determined, farily easily, whether race was the motivation.
At any rate, whatever, their motivation, the little thugs who did this deserve to be locked up, in adult prison, for several years. The little thugs’ parents should be sued and pay around 20% of their earnings to the victim for the next 30 years or so. The bus driver, at a minimum, should be fired and perhaps charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
The kids who cheered them on, should all be expelled from school for the year, be forced to repeat the grade they are in next year, and be required to clean the school’s toilets all of the next school year, if they wish to be reinstated.
Of course, none of this will happen, but it should.
I find little old black ladies to be quite full of common sense. Especially the ones that have really seen the hard times that the younger folk claim they have seen.
Also... there was a 75yo black lady telling my wife how to improve her batter on her fried chicken. My wife did not think the lady’s technique would work.
I told my wife: for future reference, when a 75yo black lady tells you how make fried chicken, you’d best listen.
My neighbor is a real sweetie. I have never asked her age, but she has loads of common sense. Most mornings when I go for my walk she comes out to walk with me. She is getting a little unsteady, yet still wants to get out and about. I lend her my arm and get so much more in wisdom back from her. America needs to listen to her oldsters!

Well, I live on the other side of the river in far West St. Louis County, but I have some friends who live over there. I guess they are in the “good” part of town?

This was no fight. It was not one but two racial attacks on the same non-combatant boy. He was not fighting. He spent most of the video getting beat and never made an aggressive move.
Of course it wasn’t racism. Black kids spontaneously erupt in violence all the time, doesn’t matter who is sitting next to them. That is why zero tolerance laws against violence in schools are racist, as reverend jackson so eloquently explained.

A group of white kids pounding the crap out of a black boy for sitting in the wrong seat on the bus would clearly not be racially motivated.

That’s why “hate crimes” legislation was a bad idea. It was never going to applied uniformly. Black on White violence wasn’t going to be characterized as “hate crime” even if it obviously was. Everybody pretty much knew this when the legislation was debated, but in a lot of places it passed anyway.
Would it be racist to ask the race of the police chief? The first responders?
That would be a cutesy PC response, but only if it agrees with the initial report.

I saw the video. If that were a group of White thugs cheering on one of their own against a Black kid, the Justice Department would’ve sent a SWAT team to Belleville.
