NEW YORK — President Barack Obama's candid thoughts about Kanye West are provoking a debate over standards of journalism in the Twitter age.

ABC News says it was wrong for its employees to tweet that Obama had called West a "jackass" for the rapper's treatment of country singer Taylor Swift. The network said some of its employees had overheard a conversation between the president and CNBC's John Harwood and didn't realize it was considered off the record.

The network apologized to the White House and CNBC.

Hilarious. This off-color remark by Barack Obama has left the gossip pages and blogs and is now in the MSM.

Question: When will Congress hold a vote on whether to censure Obama for his outburst?

"The network apologized to the White House and CNBC." Yes, but did Obama apologize to Kanye?

Now Obama must invite Kanye West to the White House for a beer.

As must as I’d like to see a fair shake out of the media, I’m resigned to the fact it just ain’t gonna happen.

That said, I’ve got plenty of other things to lay at Obama’s feet before I start maligning him for making a true statement, however undignified.

Roe Conn on WLS Chicago was playing the audio clip, or at least an audio clip of Obama saying “he’s a jackass” - could have come from his book-on-tape I suppose. But anyway, it’s just hilarious, as Roe is dropping the sound bite in right and left, even during the newscast ;-)

I guess the Liar-n-Thief, er, make that the Liar-in-Chief knows a jackass when he sees one.

I think Obama said this knowing full well it would leak out. It’s a perfect little I’m hip to pop culture Sister Soulja moment. Call me when Terry Moron tweets some “O-bon mot” that 99.9% of the public doesn’t agree with.

Obama must be a racist. Kanye West is of the Negro race. Thus, any criticism of him must be racist.

this is just more pandering. Clinton’s “Sista Soulja” moment turned his polls around.

Was there ever any doubt about Mr. West? We knew he was a Democrat long before Obama called him one.

Is it just me that wonders why the President is having conversations with the President of CNBC?

Seems a little out of line to me...but, wait...I forgot that the entire NBC outfit is just the state-run media. Never mind!
