While the rest of his party was celebrating the choice of novice VP candidate Sarah Palin last August, then-President George W. Bush attempted to inject some reason and caution into the melee, according to a new book by a former White House speechwriter.

Yes it does... I’ve always maintained that he is more RINO than conservative.

You’re right. It doesn’t sound like something Bush would say in and around a mere speech writer who hadn’t really been on staff all that long. Heck, he wasn’t a man prone to voicing that kind of opinion about anyone unless he was angry, which is what makes the comments about Obama believable. As for what his alleged to have said about Hillary, it doesn’t sound like him unless it is taken out of context from a joke about how difficult the job of President really is.

This woman is being put into a position that she is not even remotely prepared for

This is a fair assessment before she was a candidate. The campaign proved that the assertion was incorrect. And to this day she is more relevant that most other republicans. Sarah Palin has single-handedly reshaped the argument... in one "twitter" post she nuked Obamacare. Got to love her style.

An unauthorized biography I am sure. And a two-fer: slam President Bush AND Sarah Palin. How convenient.

I used to like Bush but last couple of years of his presidency didn’t thrill me too much. His thing about saw grass? To run this country? Then his spending too?!! Very disappointing. Almost McCain like and now even more.

If bulls*** was book sales, hacks like Latimer could write million-sellers

"'This woman is being put into a position that she is not even remotely prepared for,'" Bush is quoted as saying in Matt Latimer's new book "Speechless: Tales of a White House Survivor."

"'She hasn't spent one day on the national level. Neither has her family. Let's wait and see how she looks five days out,'"

If you read what are supposed to be his words minus the writers bias, you might see it in a different light.

I see that as someone who has been through the wringer and was waiting to see how she and her family would handle it.

BTW, it could all be BS as most 'tell all' books are.

“Palin, who started out as the darling of the Republican party, lost her footing when she came under media scrutiny.”

Did I miss something? Lost what footing? The only reason it was as close as it was was due to Palin. She drew bigger crowds than Obama! Revisionist history.

And Sarah has been hearing that half her adult life

I do not believe this but... if it is true... Bush was far from being ready himself. He knew enough to surround himself with good people and he was a fast study. I remember... during his first debate... when he could not name Musharraf as the leader of pok-eeeee-ston. He was lucky that Cheney agreed to be Vice President... much as juanabee mcdole was lucky to have Palin agree to be his Vice President... and it almost allowed him to win... until mcdole himself blew it.

GW should have warned the GOP about Sen. McCain being the nominee.
