(Sex) Trafficking in Persons Report: El Salvador (US State Dept. Report, 2007) SERIOUS
US State Department Report On Sex Trafficking from El Salvador ^ | 12 June 2007 | US State Department Website

Posted on 09/16/2009 5:06:57 AM PDT by AmericanInTokyo

EL SALVADOR (Tier 2)

El Salvador is a source, transit, and destination country for women and children trafficked for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation. Salvadorans are trafficked to Guatemala, Mexico, and the United States. Salvadoran women and girls are also trafficked internally from rural to urban areas of the country. The majority of foreign victims trafficked to El Salvador are women and children from Nicaragua and Honduras trafficked for commercial sexual exploitation.

The Government of El Salvador does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking; however, it is making significant efforts to do so. The government took steps to improve victim assistance, and demonstrated more vigorous and better coordinated law enforcement efforts against traffickers. In the coming year, the government should intensify its efforts to convict and punish traffickers for their crimes. It also should provide more victim assistance and promote greater awareness of the trafficking problem, especially among judges and law enforcement personnel.

Prosecution The Government of El Salvador made strong efforts to prosecute traffickers during the reporting period, but did not secure many convictions over the past year. Article 367B of the Salvadoran Penal Code prohibits all forms of human trafficking and provides for penalties of up to eight years' imprisonment, which are commensurate with those prescribed for rape and other serious offenses. Sentences may be increased by one-third in aggravated circumstances, such as when the victim is a child. The government prosecuted 67 individuals for trafficking in 2006, a nearly four-fold increase from the number prosecuted during the previous year. Prosecutors obtained four convictions with sentences ranging from three to eight years' imprisonment. The police conducted undercover trafficking investigations and secured search warrants to raid brothels and other establishments. In 2006, 74 victims, mostly children, were rescued from trafficking situations. The government should dedicate more resources to such operations. The government should also intensify its efforts to assist and prepare trafficking victims for trial and increase training for judges and other criminal-justice officials on human trafficking. No credible reports of government complicity with trafficking were received during the reporting period.

Protection The Salvadoran government committed more resources to assisting trafficking victims during the last year. A local NGO, which receives assistance from the government and IOM, sheltered 82 trafficking victims in 2006; this shelter is guarded continuously by police. Children who have been trafficked are referred to ISNA, a national agency that runs a shelter for minors. Both shelters are staffed with doctors, psychologists, and other victim services. Salvadoran authorities encourage victims to assist in the investigation and prosecution of their traffickers. There were no reports of victims being charged, jailed, or otherwise penalized for unlawful acts committed as a result of their being trafficked. Foreign victims are not deported; they face voluntary repatriation with government assistance, though the government provides no legal alternatives to their removal to countries where they face hardship or retribution.

Prevention The Salvadoran government sustained prevention efforts during the reporting period. The National Committee Against Trafficking in Persons, an inter-agency task force, sponsored information campaigns, press conferences, and trafficking awareness training across the country. Police and other government officials spoke in schools and other forums about the dangers of human trafficking.

Would anyone care to join me with brainstorm ideas or in contacting a) the Embassy of El Salvador to the United States in Washington, D.C. and local consulates, and/or b) any major, El Salvador-based human rights group fighting this scourge, and elicit their comments and ask what they think about the ACORN organization since a troublesome situation directly related to El Salvador did come up on national television multiple times.

Especially those of you with young, pure, happy, protected, innocent teen and pre-teen daughters?

Shall we raise the stakes, and make this immoral if not criminal U.S. taxpayer-funded organization "ACORN" an international issue and incident, which it most certainly deserves to be?

“Just to be clear, ACORN is not in the prostitution business,” Spach said.

The above line was given yesterday by an ACORN rep., in defense of the sting operation in San Bernardino, CA. I find it strange that these words were used as, no one that I know of, accused ACORN of being in the prostitution business. Perhaps that is EXACTLY what they are involved in.

Maybe this is what Beck, Brietbart, O’Keefe and Giles are ultimately coming to. Huuummmmm.

I saw this on Glenn Beck and it was appalling. The woman who actually bragged about killing her husband should be in jail now......... but I'll bet she is not.

Even if Acorn is in the child prostitution business, they are helping poor people find jobs and housing and so this is a non-story and, as Charlie Gibson says, best left to the cable networks./s

How could anyone in the White House, Congress, DNC,
support slavery and sex trafficking of children, even
for a femtosecond? How? And yet they do. Like the UN.

"The E. F. Hutton of Prostitution: When ACORN Talks, Pimps and Hookers Listen.
The radical activist group ACORN is the E. F. Hutton of prostitution. It stands ready to provide discreet advice
on setting up a brothel and engaging in other, associated acts of criminality. When ACORN talks, pimps and hookers listen.
In Baltimore, ACORN staff assured O’Keefe and Giles that the group doesn’t “discriminate” — i.e., has no standards whatsoever.
Giles is told if she makes $96,000 a year selling sex, she should tell the government she only makes $9,600.
O’Keefe notes that they want a house for 13 underage girls who will be imported from El Salvador to work as prostitutes.
Only three — not all 13 — of the girls can be listed as dependents, ACORN prudently advises. "

"ACORN Prostitution Scandal:San Bernardino VIDEO This Time W/Politicians and Murder
When we last saw our fake pimp and hooker, they were in Brooklyn, with the usual scenario,
trying to find out how ACORN would deal with people looking for a home mortgage
so they can open open up a brothel using under-aged girls.

Today's stop is San Bernardino, California. In this Acorn office we find out the woman who runs the office is also a poll dancer
who may turn tricks on the side. ACORN's is supposedly non political but acording to Teresa,
the woman on the tape helping the pair, she speaks with Congressman and Senators every day because
she is lobbying for the Obamacare bill. She names Barbara "Call Me Senator "Boxer and Senator McCleod,
and 62nd district Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter as people with whom she deals.
Theresa says that “Eden’s” prostitution money would be an asset to James in his quest to become a Senator or Representative.
Also the person who was helping the alter egos of James O' Keefe and Hannah Giles with the prostitution scam
also talks about how she first planned the cover-up then shot and killed her husband."

James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles visited one of ACORN’s New York offices in August,
where they picked up handy tips on how to lie on housing forms to cover up a prostitution business
(”Honesty is not going to get you the house,” one ACORN official advises) and how to hide cash
from their illicit business (”When you buy the house with the backyard, you get a tin…
and you bury it down in there…cover it…and put the grass over it…”).

In 1994 the ACORN Housing Corporation (AHC) was awarded a $1.1 million grant
by AmeriCorps, a program of the Corporation for National Service (CNS). The money was intended
to fund the training of 42 AmeriCorps members in 13 cities. The workers were expected to identify
low-income families hoping to purchase a first home, to assist them in finding suitable housing, and to
advise them in securing the necessary financing.

AHC’s initial subterfuge pales in comparison to the illegal fundraising scheme it subsequently operated,
using its AmeriCorps grant to increase ACORN’s membership.
According to Jordan, one ACORN member in the Dallas regional office stated that “the only reason
for having the AmeriCorps program was to gain new ACORN members, and that if AmeriCorps loan
counseling clients did not start becoming ACORN members, she could and would halt the AmeriCorps project.”
Jordan found that this understanding was not limited to the Dallas office.
Using government funds to solicit membership in an organization that— like ACORN—participates in
direct political advocacy is a violation of federal guidelines."

"ACORN: Big Apple, Big Pimping (another shoe drops)
It was just a fluke, ACORN insisted the first time that James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles
published their undercover video showing their office in Baltimore helping a pimp evade taxes
and get a mortgage by deceit for a brothel. They fired a couple of “bad apples” in that office,
and a couple of more bad apples in Washington DC when that office got caught on hidden camera
doing the same thing. In fact. ACORN went so far as to brag that the pair had tried the same thing
and failed in “San Diego, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia to name a few places.”"

In that case, well, maybe they should be nicknamed COItus.

My bad. (not really).

Seriously, I think FOX News might play this human trafficking side of it with El Salvador, but the SCM won't touch it with a ten-foot pole, ostriches that they are--that's guaranteed.

The response from NOW regarding the degradation of young women and ACORNs involvement......EXTREME SILENCE.

However, if one of these young ladies is raped and refused an abortion.....NOW will be the first to protest.

OK, ACORN (COI) is not all THAT bad.

They DO have some good programs to help Latinos and Hispanics:

"Thanks To ACORN, Undocumented Can Now Purchase Homes" (2005) Spanish-to-English Translation Telemundo Channel 47, archived from 2005 ^ | 7 September 2005 | Delines Batlle (translated from Spanish) Posted on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 11:36:03 PM by AmericanInTokyo Talk about a smoking pistola! "UNDOCUMENTED (ILLEGAL ALIENS) CAN NOW PURCHASE HOME" (Indocumentados pueden comprar casa) By Delines Batlle TV47 Telemundo, 7 September 2005 [TRANSLATION SPANISH TO ENGLISH BY FREEPER] "New York, NY-- Thanks to a private bank initiative, it is now possible for undocumented immigrants to the United States to purchase a home, without having a Social Security Number. A new program, it will now help those immigrants who have not been able to purchase a home, and to help them achieve the American Dream. For a very long time, Elena Hernandez did not have the illusion of being able to buy a home, not because she did not want to, but because she did not have legal immigration papers. The Mexican immigrant said "I knew that for me, the door was closed for me to purchase because I did not have a SSN, and without an SSN, you know you cannot do anything," she said. Traditionally, undocumented who wanted to buy a home in the United States had to resort to underhanded means, such as with false documents, or with the help of other persons.... But now thanks to the Citigroup, in alliance with a group ACORN, the Asociation de Organizaciones Comunitarias para Reformas", they are able to help immigrants to buy homes who do not even have Social Security numbers..... (el snippo)....this could be accomplished just with a Taxpayer Identification Number.... it is important for all those interested, who want to take advantage of this new program, to contact a center of ACORN Housing Corporation, and you can do it in the following communities: Nueva York Nueva Jersey Bridgeport, CT Washington DC Miami Baltimore, MD Chicago California For more information, you can visit by Internet ACORN HOUSE, and below that, ACORN Housing and Citigroup Partner on Remarkable Home Loan Product, where you will find more details. For the office of ACORN closest to you, just contact ACORN in Spanish." (END OF SPANISH TO ENGLISH TRANSLATION)

There is a lot of this going on.....in neighborhoods where ACORN is all over the landscape.....and in all the locations, the ACORNs found it not the least bit odd and had an attitude of “here come some more.....”

Think about it.

Tell El Salvodor to cancel the visas of any American employed, past or present, by ACORN.

Yes, I know this includes Barack the ACORN. What goes around comes around.

This is a very good idea. You can’t depend on human rights groups because most of them are jokes.
