Former President Jimmy Carter has accused critics of Barack Obama of racism following an outburst by a Republican congressman. Does he have a point?

BY TOM CHIVERS

President Jimmy Carter says that criticism of Barack Obama shows that there is an “inherent feeling” in America that a black man should not be President. It follows the South Carolina Republican Joe Wilson shouting “you lie!” during a speech by the President to Congress.

racism has no meaning anymore...not when the dims keep redefining it.

They can call me racist till the cows come home and it doesn't bother me a bit. The days of walking on egg shells so you won't be thought of as racist are gone forever.

Ex prez jimmy carter with michael
moore at 2004 demonRat convention

July 2004 ...3 months *after* Moore made
the following comments on the war in Iraq

Michael Moore (quote), from his website, April 14, 2004...

"The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not 'insurgents' or 'terrorists' or 'The Enemy.' They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win. Get it, Mr. Bush?"

How ironic that Carter should use the phrase “inherent feeling”. It makes his statement more racist than what he’s accusing Joe Wilson of.

Inherent means “involved in the constitution or essential character of something : belonging by nature or habit”. (M-W Online)

Carter is a racist.

I will exchange Obama for Walter E Williams for President any day of the week. Skin color has no bearing on the matter, only the condition of the mind and heart.

Straight from the Mugabe playbook...never mind the havoc that Dear Leader is wreaking on his country, if you disagree with him you must be a racist. It is the ultimate argument-stopper for dictators around Africa, so why not use it here?

Get a clue, Carter and the other race-baiters, we don’t disagree with Obama because of his pigmentation, we disagree with him because his policies and agenda are destroying this great nation.

And desperate. They don’t realize that their last gasp hope, (cry racism) doesn’t scare anyone any longer, it just makes folks madder.

I liked what John Rich said last night on Hannity: (paraphrasing) “Who cares what Jimmy Carter thinks? Jimmy Carter didn’t matter back when he was supposed to matter.”

“.... there is an “inherent feeling” in America that a black man should not be President ....”

Well, obviously those folks were not in the majority last November. The sad thing is that old white racists, such as this man, keep going to their well and hauling up this drek. Did I mention that this guy is not especially fond of Israeli Jews? Not surprisingly, a racist is often the first to broach the subject of race, as they tend to view the world through that anachronistic set of glasses.

Realistically, this embarassing pronouncement by a former president indicates that he is simply a kindred spirit with O. Sadly, these are simply the words of an old man desperately grasping for credibility. Fortunately for us, his time has past. Now we have far greater threats to the Republic that we must concern ourselves with.

If I were a man color(besides white that is)I would be insulted by this insulting remark. It would be like not offering me a job because I happen to be Catholic

Racism: a word that has been rendered useless by the radical left.

“.....the race bludgeon. That’s their position of last resort.”

Disagree. They pull the “Race Card” at the drop of a hat as it’s a proven winner to defeat discussion.

NOT a proven winner of anything other than to stop discussion and get their way on whatever it is they are targeting at the time.

Note the discussion of “YOU LIE” is now “YOU’RE A RACIST”? The Lying, THE LIE has to be restored to its rightful position as the topic of discussion rather than racism.

As I wrote in previous threads we have to tell them to take their racism and shove it where the Sun don’t shine, and NOT let them get away with playing the race card anymore.

Expose their abuse of the race issue, and they will be defeated. Expose their overused tactic of sidestepping an issue with racism, or whatever they use to divert attention at the time versus honest discussion of the actual topic and they will be defeated.

Call them on their tactic, their Bullscoot each and everytime they try it.

Dare to out shout them.

Whenever race becomes the front and center issue, Obama drops about 10 points in approval. Scuttlebutt is that Obama is working with his staff to get this race stuff out of the news. But that’s like trying to keep chocolate out of the hands of a chocoholic (no pun intended). It’s just too irresistible for some.

Jimmy and Rosalyn will always consider him a great success as President, and no amount of truth will change their minds.

Carter suffers guilt from his slave owning heritage. Somehow he has convinced himself he can be redeemed by pointing his finger and calling others who don’t have a history of slaveownership in their family, racist.

Sorry Jimmy, you can accuse others of what your family was all you want, but that does not change your history, nor will it redeem you.

If you want redemption for the sins of your fathers, sell that peanut farm along with everything you own. Then pay reparations to the living relatives of your family’s victims. Herein lies your salvation.
