A practiced behavior. Say something bad about or to someone, but do it with a smile, and kinda under your breath. Then you can claim it was a joke, or misunderstood, or not meant to inflame anyone. Oh, yes, a smile when you are insulting or dissing someone will serve as a good "cover." Typical narcissistic, cowardly behavior.
Yeah, I did notice that. But it seemed to me like he was trying to say it “under his breath” with a wink & nod, sort of.
You notice the control he wanted to have over the media there as to say “don’t dare let this out because this guy and the rest of hip hop validate my street cred”, man...this is gold. About the only time I would ever agree with Obama.

It’s well known about Kanye’s ego and ridiculous behavior in the industry and behind the scenes...the guy is just off the charts the biggest dumb ass. Obama knows it deep inside and called him exactly what everyone else calls him behind his back. Kudos to Bama for keepin’ it real here although he was commanding the press to cover up for him.
Or put in another way:
Q: “What did one jackass say about another?”
A: “He’s a jackass...”

[Can’t say I haven’t been called that from time to time, minus “pretentious.” ]... But if you’ve lived in Illinois long enough to pick up the manner of speech, that’s the way it’s often said, with gritted teeth. Maybe all Illini are smartasses too, but gritted teeth aren’t unusual in regional speech. I’ve had a few European tourists take note of that, otherwise I would never have noticed. There are other words less profane that get the same stiff-lips locked-teeth treatment used by Obama. Like “cheese,” “sugar,” “Jesus”, “Chicago,” and with a more open but still set jaw, there are words such as “delicious.” The phrase “Wouldja like schuger inyer tea?” is said with teeth closed or nearly so and virtually no visible facial movement. Just don’t add any words with an F, P or an M.
