A pest fish which is not native to the area and lives all over the world. Some geniuses in our all-wise FedGuv decreed it to be worthy of more preservation than the farm land around it.

They look like they’d be tasty, fried.

And they’d be easier to catch if they weren’t covered up by all that farmers’ water.

Species go away all the time. BFD. Get over it, Kalifornia.

Who funds these enviro whackos that cause such fishy problems? I have heard rumors that OPEC may be behind at least a portion of “the green movement” as it of course is in their best interest to keep us from being self-sufficient and successful. Anyone have a way to follow the money?

You know what SHOULD happen?

A farmer with terminal cancer or some other disease, after passing title to everything he owns to his family, should drive a huge fertilizer truck, or Nitrate load, into the headwaters of this river.

Kill ALL of the stupid fish.

Then ask: Since ALL THE FISH ARE DEAD -— Can we have our WATER now?

I think it’s all a scam from extremist wacko enviro folks to shut down more citizens from working and prospering on their own land. Once the land is abandoned or lost though forclosure, the gov’t will get their mits on it and donate it to those less fortunate so they can grow food and sell it.

Allowing that the environmentalists have the protected species card to play, can’t modern technology keep the fish out of the canal pumps or wherever they are getting caught?

Governor Shriver has failed as a human being and as Governor, nowhere in the Constitution does the Fed Gov have any AUTHORITY whatsoever with regards to STATE OWNED WATER. Governor Shriver should of had the JUDGE arrested for usurping the rights of a FREE INDEPENDENT SOVEREIGN STATE. Put all these FEDS in JAIL, Seize their assets immediately, open the gates and give the people their water.Yes the Governor has the Authority to do this but She Won’t.

Stuff like this is what lead me to conclude that environmentalists hate people.

A minnow is more important to them than the people who live and work there.

I’ve both caught and eaten my share of smelt. We’d buy a new garbage can every season just to fill it to the top with smelt. We’d use nets to catch them in Lake Superior and Lake Michigan.

We’d set up an assembly line (more like disassebbly) and snip-snip-shake-rinse they were clean.

“Who funds these enviro whackos that cause such fishy problems?”

Largely, they are operated by lawyers and funded by a provision in the ESA that allows anyone to sue the government to make them comply with protection of ‘endangered species’ AND collect attorney fees. It’s quite the racket and the same one we should be using to force the DHS to secure the borders.
Illegal alien Mexican drug cartels just burned down 88,000 acres of California in just one of their fires...talk about habitat destruction! But you won’t hear the enviros complain about that!

Another source of their funding is YOU....US Taxpayer grants handed out by our legislooters. The enviro groups are taking advantage just like other ‘community organizers’ like ACORN.

from the article:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2341502/posts

But Robert Rector, a senior research fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation and an expert on welfare and poverty said these community organizing networks “basically get paid to make noise” and “serve as a clearinghouse for moving government money around.”

Been there done that back in Gresham, Wisconsin when a bunch of 30-06 carrying farmers ran the DNR off the farm for taking water from the stream.

The organizer is still in prison. 20 years. His name is Tommy Stockheimer and we stood shoulder to shoulder many times before. He headed the Michigan Posse.

BTW the farmer lost in court and was fined.

Other than ruffle a few feathers, I’d say we came out on the short end of the stick.

SEAN HANNITY DOING LIVE SHOW IN THE VALLEY ON WATER FOR FULL HOUR

Some of you may know by now, but Sean Hannity from FoxNews with be coming to the Valley. This time he is coming in person to do his entire show, Hannity, from the westside. Obviously, this is another important opportunity to highlight the serious issues we face here in the Valley, and to bring attention to the government imposed drought that we are all suffering through. Details are below:

What: LIVE on the Sean Hannity Show for FoxNews

When: Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Time: Show goes live at 6:00pm (my suggestion is to plan on arriving by 5:00pm, because we are expecting THOUSANDS of people to attend)

Where: A fallowed field on the Westside in Fresno County (Tomatoes were grown on this land in 2008, but in 2009 NOTHING was planted because of the water cut-off)

Located on the south side of Highway 198, to the west of the Fresno/Kings County line. The field is exactly 8 miles WEST of Lemoore Naval Air Station. The field is very easy to find, because the main entrance is marked with a speed limit sign and a white wrought iron gate. (See photo of entrance attached)
Also, the area will be clearly marked with signs and banners.

As it stands now, parking will be available on the shoulder of Hwy 198, or in the field adjacent to the field we are using for the set. The producers for Hannity have been in contact with the CA Highway Patrol, and they will be on hand to assist with directing traffic, and to help with security.

The Latino Water Coalition has graciously agreed to provide porta-potties, and Families Protecting the Valley has agreed to provide complimentary bottled water (much like they did for the Hannity event in Huron in August).

read what we did to get the water flowing again there.

Still sounds like they could use some of that same old grit and civil disobedience...but on a larger scale.

Sean is doing a great job on his broadcast tonight. Thank you Sean and hello to all the people of the Valley that are suffering - without jobs because of wacky environmental laws. Save a fish, kill a farming valley. Brilliant! \sarcasm

This valley is dried up because the government turned off their water. Would rather send it into the SF Bay because of a little fish. Jeez!

Wikipedia:
Agriculture
Historian Kevin Starr has referred to the San Joaquin Valley as “the most productive unnatural environment on Earth.”[citation needed] By some estimates, 12.8% of the United States’ agricultural production (as measured by dollar value) comes from California, and the majority of that is in the San Joaquin Valley.[2] Grapes—table, raisin, and to a lesser extent wine—are perhaps the valley’s highest-profile product, but equally (if not more) important are cotton, nuts (especially almonds and pistachios), citrus, and vegetables. The J. G. Boswell Company’s farming operation in Kings County is the largest single cotton farm in the world, occupying over 162 square kilometres (40,000 acres). Certain places are identified quite strongly with a given crop: Stockton produces the majority of the asparagus consumed in the United States, and Fresno is credited as the birthplace of the raisin.

Sean did a great job at first, esp. sponsoring the rally for these good folk who need water, but infuriated me when he said he would let an environmentalist (actually, pro fishing lobby rep) explain the opposing view, but then would not let him get a word in-— the guest was trying to share (as best i could tell because of Hannity’s rude interruptions in the middle of every sentence) was that the smelt are NOT the issue, but it is the need to protect salmon runs. Sean has gone downhill big time. I want to release the water for the farmers, probably would favor them over salmon runs on their particular river, but Hannity destroys the conservative high ground in such debates when he refuses to acknowledge the other side. I know that type of examination in a courtroom turns off judges and juries, and i am sure it turns off the opinion of fence stratling viewers who need to be won over, assured that we are not afraid to take on arguments fairly and head on. Sean Hannity was hitting a home run until he turned on the hot air of the Michael Savage type.
