My guess - and this is just a guess - is that they didn’t keep up with continuing educatiopn requirements and therefore are no longer on the list of “active” attorneys.
This is the innocuous explanation. If there are others, I’m sure someone in the new media will investigate further.

That’s my guess as well.
When I worked for lawyers, certain repeat offenders were constantly hounding me about finding them continuing education opportunities.
Hel-LO! I’m a marketer. I am not a lawyer. How on earth would I know where to find what YOU need? (Which sort of explains why I no longer work for lawyers. That, and as a group they tend to suck.)
And at least in Texas, you can get CLE credit for reading American Lawyer and other such fluff. I mean, really, it’s not THAT hard.

Nah. No one would have that sealed, unless that's just normal practice for all revocations. If it took an extra effort to have them sealed, it has to at least look bad for the individual. Might be no there, there, but it would have to at least look bad on the surface or they wouldn't bother.
Illinois did not have CLE requirements until a couple years ago.

I recall reading about this sometime last fall. I believe her license was “suspended,” and it was not by the IL bar. It was a federal agency or watchdog group or something like that. It was also stated that this “agency” does not deal with minor problems.
Obama’s license probably just lapsed. But it would be interesting to know for sure.
Continuing Education only became effective in Illinois a few years ago. For people whose last name begins with “O” or “R”, they would have had to have 20 hours by the end of June 2009.

I don't know where to find it but there is a law book or something like that, that, shows Michelle Obama voluntarily gave up her lisense before she was criminally charged. Barack Obama just didn't renew his.
