Wash Post ^ | 9/18/09 | Chris Cinzilla

Posted on 09/18/2009 7:47:43 AM PDT by pissant

After a month without Lines -- on Friday or any other day -- Fixistas need their, um, Fix.

And, of course, we aim to please. So this week we are doing two Lines -- one today looking at the ten most influential Republican leaders in the party and then one tomorrow ranking the ten Senate races most likely to switch parties in 2010.

Republicans have seen something of a reversal of fortune since we last penned a Line looking at their relatively meager list of leaders.

(snip)

10. John Cornyn

9. Sarah Palin

8. Mitch Daniels

7. Mike Huckabee

6. John Boehner/Mitch Mcconell

5. Michael Steele

4. Newt

3. Haley Barbour

2. Tim Pawlenty

1. Mitt Romney

If you object to some of the names on this hardly objective WaPo list, see the videos below.

Please DO NOT misunderstand my reasons for producing these two videos. If folks want to gather together to let “them” know that “we,” like Howard Beal in “Network” are “…mad as hell and not going to take it any more…,” it’s STILL – for the time being anyway – a relatively free country so we can do that.

All I’m saying here is that, especially in tough economic times, there are more EFFICIENT and EFFECTIVE ways to expend our FINITE RESOURCES.

It’s not as much fun as sweating on the Mall but there IS a better – and less costly — way to scare hell out of “them” — and you won’t even have to leave home.

Question marks by 5,6,7......they run hot and cold, imho. Cornyn (my Senator) has disappointed my a couple of times but I guess he’s OK. Why is Sarah in 9th place?.....she has more nads than all of the others put together.....:)

This is how we got McCain. Liberals in the MSM tell us that our only hope is someone like Romney. Some Republicans believe it, and in addition, our open primaries allow a lot of Democrats to pick a loser for us and voila! Democrat Lite!

IF this is a true list of the most influential persons in the party (and please note I consider it a Big If), then the republicans continue to have a near complete dearth of REAL leaders.

I don’t see any way that Mitt Romney is the most influential person in the Republican party. He might be the most well-known, but I don’t really see him impacting ANYTHING that is happening right now.

What issue has he driven? What minds has he changed? Where has his hand shaped the debate?

I think this is because on the biggest issue right now, Health Care, he is on the wrong side, or at least not on the right side.

I don’t think Palin is the most influential, but she clearly has had a lot more input into the debate, and has had a lot more impact. She is making statements that are changing how the democrats act, and they are responding to her, meaning she is a force in the party.

1. Mitt Romney: No one in the Republican party at the moment can match Romney's motor. The guy is simply everywhere... Couple that packed calendar with the favorable reviews Massachusetts residents are giving to the health care plan Romney signed into law as governor and you see why Romney continues to hold the top slot on the Line. (Previous ranking: 1)

LOL

The biggest missing name I’d put on the list is Eric Cantor.

The other name that is missing is Fred Thompson. Maybe because he making news, but he is out there, he sends out messages every few days, and those messages are strong and clear ones, that I think are making an impact.

Who knows, maybe he is even influencing Sarah Palin — they are certainly on the same page.

This is the reason that we must get new people to run as independents. Every incumbant needs to be removed. We must clean house, (and Senate too!). All of these have sold us out, either directly, or by being too passive against the democrats.

We need regular people in the legislature, who truly represent US. Some of us must run, locally and nationally. We cannot take our government back from professional politicians unless we are willing to participate, by putting ourselves and our “fortunes” on the line like our forefathers did.

Influential with who? Is the order supposed to be significant? Palin is far and away more influential with voters than anybody else on the list. I like how they totally discount Palin running in 2012 in the article. I hope they continue to believe that.

The most influential Republican?

Once again, the MSM tries to pick the guy they think will lose to Obama in a walk.

Remember, conservatives, when thinking about Teh Mittens, it's best to remember this warning.....

Michelle Bachmann & Sarah Palin & Jim DeMint are the most influential CONSERVATIVE Republicans today. Most of the list is RINO or semi-RINO, being pushed once again by Washington DC beltway so-called experts. Whatever these experts suggest or recommend.....do the exact opposite and we will win back our country and defeat 0bozo’s socialist-fascist-commie band of thugs, including the usurper pig himself, 0bozo.

I don't trust anything the MSM tries to sell & I sure as hell don't think 3/4's of this list even comes close. They figured it worked in 2008 so they will just try to tell us who should run the party again. Mitt Romney...WTF, another Rhino and Palin is at the bottom...actually, I am surprised the WaPo even put her on the list....but I digress, and Pawlenty, after he supported Obama's stimulus and got up a played all nice with him....not this time!
