Unemployment insurance payment of $90 surging to at least $1,040 per worker
See how productive liberalism is?
Wow... it’s like cap and trade, only for employment.
Hey Hawaii! How’s that hope and change thing workin’ out for ya?
Why can’t the source be identified?
Welcome to liberal land.
Wonder when they’ll figure out that it’s those “common folks” who actually create the wealth.
I’ll trade all the Harvard/Yale/cookie cutter lib arts grads for a few hundred creative, clever, tech and business types.
Good for Hawaii! They deserve it.
Does Hawaii still have a Republican governor, and if so, what is she thinking?
Cloward-Piven Hits Hawaii first. The most Liberal State. Soon in a State near you.
Hey Hawaii look on the bright side you still got Islam Day enjoy.
Should be higher. At least $45,000 per worker!
That’ll get the Hawaiian economy into high gear. Uh huh, it sure will!
And they should impose a 3000% tax on new vehicles to save our precious Mother Gaia from the evil, rapicious homo sapiens.
Then we’ll all be living it an earthly paradise!

The typical lib-commie will see nothing wrong with it and want more.
Thanks, Rawhide.
I remember not long ago reading where Hawaii was buying air tickets for the unemployed to get them to another state...
Just think of it as a hiding a non-existent birth certificate tax. HI can go to h8ll.
I will never go there and yes I can afford it.
Holy COW!
She’s thinking she’s outgunned by the overwhelmingly Democrat legislature ... as it has been forever.
Lorianne: I’m unaware of any rule that forbids you providing a link to the story. Excerpting it may be a different matter, but posting about an article you can’t even link to is essentially a vanity post.
GOOD, Maybe they will cough up Dear Leaders BC, or the Lack thereof information.
Hawaiian official says, “Our hands are tied.”
“Why cant the source be identified?”
I do not know for sure.
All I know is everytime I try to post anything from the Honolulu Advertiser, it gets shot down.
Gannett or something.
Here’s the link:

If only.
Lamh Foistenach Abu!
You’re right, but I forget to provide the link.
I can’t keep all the different rules straight for each resticted source, so I usually just post the link in my first post ... but I forgot this time.
Thanks

Higher prices and more layoffs on the way. Enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Hey, you pineapples, in the only state that OFFICIALLY enshrines racism and declares that `pure native Hawaiians’ enjoy special privileges denied to the rest of us “haoles”? Or is it “malahinis”?
Enjoy the fruits of your native liberalism and I’d rather be a tourist in Timbuktu than Honolulu.
“Pidgin To Da Max!”
;^)
Hey, no make mention brudda. Jus go surf Makapu. One good time.
I looked at that article and it didn’t state all that I had read in my local paper this morning. I looked at the various web sites to try to find the article,(Hawaii Tribune Hearald, AP, Honolulu Advertiser, Star Bulletin) so I could post the source url, and it is nowhere to be found. It had the name By Mark Niesse and Associate Press under the title “Business tax rises 1,156%”. At any rate, what struck me as typical of most Hawaii residents attitudes was the following quote from the article:
Those benefits are not at risk, even though the states unemployment fund is projected to be depleted by the end of next year. When that happens Hawaii government leaders plan to seek a loan of some $61 million from the federal government.
“They print money, right?” said Darwin Ching, director for the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. “We’ll be insolvent, but we won’t be bankrupt.”
The above is bad enough but what intrigues me is the fact that I cannot find the article or the quote from Darwin Ching anywhere on the net even thouth it is right in front of me in the newspaper.
In the 1980's, being in Hawaii as a white sailor was like being a negro in 'Jim Crow' Mississipi.
The workers will pay for this, not the employers.
If you mean the workers will pay for this by losing some jobs, you are exactly right. It is a tax paid by the employers but will come off the top of the payroll figure allocated for employee positions.
yup! with their lost jobs!
Governments have been running this scam for so many years that employees no longer have any idea what their employers are paying for them to be there.
So instead of laying people off they will now fire them outright in order to keep from having to pay. Either that or they will simply shut down, re-organize and open again with far fewer employees. Government is simply bad for the people, all but the barest minimum should be done away with. The founders didn’t go far enough in limiting the power of government.
I know where this is going (the race to have no ability, but a lot of need) and I wanna play too.... I have a wife two kids, two dogs, a horse with a broken leg, and AND, I suffer from a condition in my brain that deprives me the motivation to work. Therefore, I think this new tax should be $95 in order to incorporate (and pay for) my needs.
All businesses will be shut down, the government will simply print money and send every adult person over 18 a check(the amount to be determined later). The check will be taxed at a specific rate for everyone, this way the government will be able to increase their revenue. We will import all of our goods from some other country, including food, using the money the government prints for us.
Ok, for those of you who didn't read my first sentence, this is what a liberal told me once(quite recently)with a straight face and couldn't understand why I was staring at her like she was a lunatic. The above aren't my words or my ideas!
I wonder how many employers will just pay under the table??
I totally believe it. I’ve hear similar proposals from liberal acquaintances.
Exactly right.
Another Democrat paradise overachieves.
LOL! I was talking to my lib cousin once about not having incentive to work if one is overly taxed. She asked,"But who would WANT to stay home all day?"
I was a stay-at-home-mom at the time.
A couple years later she was laid off and took a part-time, no benefits job and was fairly content being poor as dirt because of all the time it gave her.
Keep voting Democrat schmucks.
Over 50% of the employees in Hawaii are government employees of one sort or another. So, the tax increase is really no big deal unless the prices go up on everything, which they will or until it comes time to donate to the democraps. And then they want all the businesses to pony up. What happens if there are no private businesses left? It is so sad for the “greedy” businesses to try to even make a profit since every time they get ahead the tax man cometh. This state is unbelievable.
