You think its high now, wait till the stimulus “sugar” gets burned off. Then they’ll have to start laying off STATE employees.

Biden hails stimulus benefits, says 500,000 jobs created

If Joe Biden said it and the Boston Globe reports it, it must be true.

The recession is over ~ Obama is in office...

Just like verbiage on the news about a house fire:
When a Republican is in office - people are ‘Homeless’
When a Democrat is in office - people are ‘Displaced’

12.2 % ____ ?

I call Bovine Squat. The real rate of unemployment must be about 18% when U6 is considered. Back in July U6 was reported to be about 16.2% in California. Just wait until January, 2010. That is when all the folks who lost jobs in 2008 will run out of unemployment benefits.

Look for rioting and violent gang banging in the streets of LA La Land.

We could put thousands to work in west Fresno County if Dances with Pigs or whatever his African name is would order the release of irrigation water for crops instead of dumping the water to San Francisco Bay to save a trash fish.

news flash, california is almost 50% republican.

I've heard that number more often estimated at 40%, but I take your point. Yes, there are a lot of good people being hurt by the Commie government in Sacramento, and they'd vote them out, if the system wasn't rigged to keep them in power.

I honestly don't know what's going to happen in California. Will it get so bad there, that a populist uprising occurs? Or, will so many Republicans, conservatives, and other hard working taxpayers leave the state that there aren't enough Americans left there to revolt?

Naturally, I hope that the good citizens of that state force a return to sanity before the bottom falls out. If I were younger, and without a young brood to raise, I'd still be there fighting, myself.

Not to worry. You're among friends here.

“If ACORN could just import more “working girls” it would be lower.”

Yes, so true. The Trickle down affect would be a boom. Mattresses, condoms, abortions. We would need to hire millions for these items and services.

We must not lose sight of what really matters. Their carbon footprint is getting smaller with each layoff.

Maybe thats why the earth is cooling off so fast?

The company has hinted strongly that there will be further layoffs by the spring of 2010. This latter layoff is the one that will likely cause me to end my (at that time) 28 years with the company.

My brother works for H-P in Silicon Valley. He's been there about as long as you've been with your company. Two years ago, my other brother was let go from H-P. He had seniority over the brother who's still there, but was in a division that got hit hard with downsizing, layoffs, etc.

I haven't talked to my brother who's still with H-P, but I'm sure that he's pretty nervous about his prospects right now. Oh, and both of my brothers are big time Obots.

California was Reagan's adopted state. He wasn't born there.
