BELLEVILLE -- Two Belleville West High School students were charged under the juvenile code today with felony counts of aggravated battery stemming from the violent beating of a 17-year-old student on a school bus earlier this week.
The incident grabbed national headlines and incited a heated debate about race when police said the incident, involving a white victim and black assailants, may have been racially motivated. They later recanted that claim.
The two teenagers—who are 14 and 15 years-old—were charged as juveniles because they are under the age of 17. Illinois law shields the disclosure of their names because they are minors.
Juvenile courts are more informal and private than adult courts. Juvenile court records are not available to the general public.
Robert Haida, the St. Clair County state's attorney, said Illinois law does not permit him to charge the teens in adult court. The law mandates that a minor can be charged in adult court only if the case involves certain crimes, such as murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault, or armed robbery with a firearm.
Warrants were issued for the defendants' immediate arrest. They had been in custody earlier but released pending investigation.
On the issue of a hate crime, Haida said: “No evidence is present to suggest that the motive for the conduct was the race of the victim. Illinois law requires such evidence in order to support that charge. Illinois law is clear that the fact that a defendant and a victim are of different races is insufficient without more evidence to support a hate crime.”

I saw some airhead professor say this absurdity on Night Line 20 years ago. I kept waiting for Ted Koppel to chime in sarcastically, “ what other human vices is it impossible for blacks to have?” but he kept his ideological silence.

Maybe. St. Clair County is the most popular venue in these parts for plaintiff favorable jury outcomes for class-action lawsuits - on both sides of the river. Don't be surprised if there's a lawsuit and it goes against the kid that got beat up.
Basically, the element that killed East St. Louis moved up the hill to Belleville and it's slowly killing Belleville. It's actually a real shame, because the Belleville schools have been excellent.

At the beginning of this school year an Adams County PA bus driver found a 13 year old boy having full blown coital intercourse with a 12 year old girl. When he told the boy to "seperate" both the boy and girl protested that he "wasn't finished yet".
School administration refused to do anything because it was ONLY THE BUS DRIVER'S SAY-SO and not caught on camera.
The driver has resigned in disgust.

I thought Belleville was a military town. We used to drive over there and pick apples when we lived in St. Louis. I will admit we rolled up our windows and drove as fast as we could through East St Louis! We always ran into really nice Air Force families at the apple farm.

Not racist, my ass. There’s a couple of white kids on the bus who are just looking forward, keeping their heads down. But gee, refusing to let someone sit down on a bus couldn’t possibly be racist. Now, supposedly the black kid started attacking the white kid in response to other kids’ taunting him about be dissed by the white kid. Why is sitting next to someone dissing him? Why did the black kids who were picking on the black assailant suddenly decide they liked they were on the black assailant’s side, if not because he went from “taking it from a white guy” to violently attacking that white guy?
It’s hard to point to one kid and say, “that kid, there, specifically acted primarily out of racism.” But it’s equally absurd to not recognize the situation as racially polarized.
Racism is for whites only. Our white liberal elitist socialist scumbags have told us so and have indoctrinated and brianwashed our children into believing the same. This is allowed and so it will continue. Belleville parents get up and scream bloody murder!
I am glad they removed the bus driver. That bus should have screeched to the curb and the only adult on the bus should have taken charge. I’m sure the bus driver was afraid, but that doesn’t change what should have happened. You’ve got to go down doing the right thing. Maybe bus drivers should be equipped with stun guns to quash violent kids for the safety of the other children.
Lots of kids cheer when a fight occurs. That’s been going on since the first school yard. We adults need to manage situations like this and quickly restore order. We need to show all the kids on the bus that this behavior is unacceptable and will be dealt with immediately. If we don’t, we get Lord of the Flies. The kids on that bus learned that adult authority and societal norms mean nothing. How many times a day are we teaching that lesson?

The east side is close to Scott AFB but the west side of Belleville borders E St Louis and is effected by the crime coming up the bluffs. However, some of the more wealthier neighborhoods of Belleville are also on the west side.
That's a despicable, and in my own direct experience, demonstrably false lie. White 'liberals' have done more to destroy the integrity of the public educational system in this country than any African-Americans ever have. And to use this incident involving a handful of monstrous kids to make a sweeping spurious generalization & unsupported wholesale condemnation of an entire group of people based on nothing more than a single physical trait they might share is utterly reprehensible.
There’s much more coming. The two black yutes who tried to beat a white kid to death will certainly continue to be murderous thugs when the become adults. Not one outlet of the Rancid Media will ever print these two bums’ long criminal record each time they are again in the news for some new brutal attack against someone. That would be racist.
Then why was the white kid attacked?
Admitting that it was racially motivated does not mean that all blacks are racist, just those that attacked the white kid. But they are afraid to say even that much.
No matter, everyone knows the truth. A pity, as refusing to deal with the issue just causes more people to distrust others and to arm up to protect themselves from threats they see coming.
As an aside, I went to a 90% black Detroit area High School (graduated 1974). Got jumped on and beat up plenty. Sometimes the black girls would step in to stop the fight and rescue me - I'll always remember that.
Come my 20th year reunion, I was a bit apprehensive and actually had a gun in the car. Turns out no need to have done that.
Everyone remembered me and 38 years old vs 16-18 years old people changed a lot and really welcomed me (I was the only white kid who showed up).
The trouble makers? All either dead (gunshot wounds or drug overdoses) or in prison.
The white kid in the video just has to survive until he graduates. Then he can join the Marines (like I did after High School) and get a decent job and move to a better area afterwards in civilian life. Most of the other kids on that bus (with their attitudes) will be stuck in the ghetto for life.

This is a fact that can't be ignored. This beating on the bus was not isolated, there are many black on white beatings on buses and in schools throughout every school year and they are getting more numerous. I will lay the blame on liberals due to their "great society" BS making virtual slaves of the main black population.
However, they need to think for themselves and look around. Whitey hasn't caused their problems(except for white liberals), not the ones they think at any rate.

I believe there are truths for why this is so: illegitimacy rates, no father figure in the home, drug use, and the constant harping from black "leader" that blacks are "victims" and they do not have to take responsibility for themselves (and instead blame whites).
The most crushing of all of these is the lack of a father in a home.
Most of my neighbors are black families, and the fathers are wonderful. One is a former college football star. They are strict, but loving with their children. They install values, discipline, and love. Most importantly, they are around.
I remember visiting a friend in high school was black. His father left when he was 6 months old. He was raised in a house with 5 other children, run by his mother and aunt.
I was shocked by the experience. His aunt and mother were over bearing and angry. Angry at him for every fault, real or imagined. When he was not being screamed at, he was belittled and teased - by his own mother and aunt.
What I witnessed taught me that young blacks who experience this type of upbringing are taught to be angry and hostile.
He got the hell out of there at 16, and became his own man. I never blamed him for that, and I can see why many young black men, without a supportive father, are taught to be ticking time bombs.

Belleville East is still decent. Belleville West is a complete sh!thole now. Most of the decent folk keep moving further east. Of course, the f**king liberal mindset doesn’t like that and has to play social engineering. Like I said in another thread the smallest spark will set things off in this area.
I read an article sometime back stating that the average income of Black immigrants in New York was higher than the native White population and far above the native Black population.
I remember one Black immigrant was quoted as saying, "What a great country because if you work hard you can be rich."

I am growing tired of this constant misuse of the word slave. A slave is someone who is forced to work for no pay other than the bare necessities to maintain life so that they can be forced to work another day, a slave is a prisoner and cannot change his circumstances by his own actions other than by escaping or committing suicide. A slave is not someone who is supported by the taxpayers.

A fight on a school bus endangers ALL the kids on the bus. The driver should have stopped the bus.
