....Last week, in one of the most baldly racist diatribes I have heard on American radio, the biggest figure in the conservative movement, Rush Limbaugh, noticed that there had been a ruckus on a school bus in which a white kid was stomped on by a black kid. The incident, it turned out, was a classic school bus bully story: the white kid was being tormented and the bullies were refusing to let him sit down. There was no racial rhetoric in a bus full of black kids and white kids.
But this is what Limbaugh said: “In Obama’s America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering, ‘Yay, right on, right on, right on, right on’ ... I wonder if Obama’s going to come to the defence of the assailants the way he did his friend Skip Gates up there at Harvard.”
Limbaugh then mocked what he sees as political correctness in “Obama’s America”: “We know that white students are destroying civility on buses, white students destroying civility in classrooms all over America, white congressmen destroying civility in the House of Representatives.” Get the picture? There’s an implication that a racist president is actively trying to hurt white America. Despite the local police chief’s insistence that race had nothing to do with the incident, Limbaugh simply declared: “I think the guy’s wrong. I think not only was it racism, it was justifiable racism. I mean, that’s the lesson we’re being taught here today. Kid shouldn’t have been on the bus anyway. We need segregated buses. This is Obama’s America.”
The goal is to portray white Americans as besieged by a sea of blackness, capped by Obama’s presidency. And, in a reference that would be clearly understood, Limbaugh proposed re-segregation in order to protect white people.

Back in mid-nineties I was asked to go make a speech on a Sunday afternoon at GOPAC in Washington. I was very upset because there was a big football game that day. The 49ers and Cowboys were playing, but I'd agreed to do this thing. So I was not in the best of humor, not in the best mood.
And at that time we were in the middle of the budget debate, the school lunch cuts and the Democrats were calling around saying that Republicans were engaging in their usual stuff of cutting Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid and they run around saying that food stamps and senior citizens were soon going to have to make the choice of eating dog food and being able to buy medicine or eating real food and not buying medicine. So all this is banging around Washington the whole week before I get there. So I open up the speech by thanking the GOPAC people for inviting me. "It's really great to be here and, I'll tell you what, I'm so happy the Democrats are doing what they're doing because I have heard them and I want you people to know: I love my mother and I love old people.
"And since the Democrats have told me what's going to happen, what I have done is I went out and I bought my mom a new can opener so that she can get the dog food easier when she has to eat it," and the place busted up laughing. Well, now, this was televised on C-SPAN. Pat Schroeder went to the floor of the House the next day and said, "This is what it's come to! This is it! Rush Limbaugh actually said he's going to buy his mother a can opener so she can have dog food. Wow!" I could not believe it. These people are humorless. This guy Potok, in addition to being ugly, has no humor whatsoever. How could you listen to that bite and not get the sarcasm? On purpose. You have to purposely miss my whole point in order to put that rotgut stuff out there. And now you've got all worked up that I call for segregated buses. It's spreading around the Internet. I know. Snerdley showed me some of the stuff spread around the Internet here. This is how these people work. But, of course, ladies and gentlemen, you know the truth. The Internet didn't make me; the Internet can't break me. The media didn't make me; they can't break me. The Southern Poverty Law Center didn't make me. Mark Potok and anybody else down there can't break me. Only you can do that, and you won't.
I suggest Mr. Sullivan would not recognize parody or sarcasm if it jumped up, hit him hard in the face and broke his nose.

OTOH, I do think Rush needs to be careful. His sarcasm is apparently pushing the envelope of the libtards intelligence. Thus they are totally clueless and attack.

Not only is that obviously false, there can be no reasonable doubt that Rush meant exactly the opposite: He was pretending to speak as a leftist who, based on well-known leftist logic, argues that segregated buses are required in order to protect the favored groups from the evil whites. It was parody whose purpose was to heap ridicule on leftist logic, demonstrating by reductio ad absurdum that it leads contradictorily to the very evil it claims to oppose.

This will be one more “horrendous racist statement” chalked up to Rush no matter what. Irony, which is saying the opposite of the obvious, is too complex for democrats who never delve past the sound bites.
Rush was saying the black boys should not have to tolerate a white person on their bus because there was no doubt the white kid was a racist who needed punishing. Which is why it was not a hate crime anymore.

A liberal co worker posted an article that Rush wants segregated buses and I was like “You don’t think maybe, just maybe, it was sarcasm?”
The reply “Well, even if he said sarcastically, you KNOW he meant it and wants it.”

If Rush needs to be careful, then we all need to be careful, since the right of free speech is no longer extended to anyone on the right or non-leftists.
On the other hand, look where walking on eggshells and being politically correct has gotten us. I, for one, am sick and tired of it. Maybe we should all start speaking our mind and speaking the truths we've been sitting on for too long.

BlueAngle, Rush knows exactly what he is doing. He’s looking for a fight. He’s sticking his jaw out and saying “take your best shot.” Rush never goes on defense. He plays offense, offense, offense while the rats revert to their “cry baby” plays. And, the rinos shake and run from both Rush and the rats. Go figure.
