Since his election in 2002, the R presence in the state dropped like a rock. We had the House (by a 61-39% margin), and near parity in the Senate. Today, in every successive election, under Pawlenty, the DFL has made gains, now we are outnumbered nearly 2-to-1 (65-35%) in the House, and more than 2-to-1 in the Senate (69-31%). Lost ALL of the other statewide offices on his watch, nevermind that we came close to losing all but 1 federal office last November. Epic disaster, on his watch. As lousy as Ventura was, he never cost our party a thing.

Global warming cultist. That should disqualify him from serious consideration.

“You do recall he held the line on income taxes, facing down the DFL (Dumb F***ing Liberals aka Democrat Farm Labor) party even in the face of a six BILLION dollar state budget shortfall.”
This was after he SPENT a 2 billion dollar surplus two years before.

He spent 2 billion, or they did? I only moved back in 2007 and was too busy with a new job to pay much attention to local politics. Help me out here -- I had been under the impression that he was somewhat better than Norm Coleman, not as good as Michele Bachmann.
Cheers!

It was a “bipartisan” effort. With a $2.2 billion surplus, they increased spending by 10%, instead of cutting spending, saving the surplus for the next biennium, or better yet, CUTTING taxes!
