Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) has introduced S. 673, - "Newspaper Revitalization Act," that would the news outlets tax deals if they were to restructure as 501(c)(3) corporations, it has one cosponsor, - Maryland colleague Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D).
The White House is playing down the idea of government assistance for news organizations, due to dwindling ad revenue in the economic climate.
They are now LAME - this means Fox, Limbaugh, Hannity, Malkin, Free Republic and Drudge are the MAIN STREAM MEDIA.
The paradigm has now completed it's shift!
Use the term "Lame Stream Media" anytime you can and pass it on!
More like irrelevent Lame Ducks.
I prefer State Run Media.
Why don’t they - the ‘rats - just call it what it is rapidly becoming: The State Run Media. Maybe Pravda II.
And how is this even remotely Constitutional?
Just call this thing the “Baltimore Sun Bailout Bill”
How about the Lame State Run Media.
I agree. It is a tool of this administration, not just “fringe”. Words mean things.
Sort of does away with any illusion of a free and independent press doesn’t it?
I'm with you.
Maybe some knowledgable Freeper can answer this question: is it permissible for an organization to participate in political advocacy and maintain 501(c)(3) status?
Too many letters.
SRM says it all.
The Day Old News, Stone Age Press, Establishmedia, Dinosaur Press the Old York Times, the Bankrupt Times...
Pray for America
>> I agree. It is a tool of this administration, not just fringe. Words mean things.
I understand your point, and it’s valid IF you view the media’s position in a snapshot of where they are right now.
But I think it’s equally valid to view the driveby media in terms of their trajectory — and where they are headed is to the fringe. No money, no credibility, zombies, replace by the “alternative media” (which will become mainstream).
It’s a page out of Alinsky to use words — which as you point out DO have meaning — to “frame” them as “fringe”, and then drive them there.

This morning, the ACORN scandal was raised to Charlie Gibson in an interview on WLS AM Chicagos Don Wade & Roma Morning Show.
Don: Ok heres my question, Senate bill yesterday passes cutting off funds to this group called ACORN. Now we got the we got that bill passing, we got the embarrassing video of ACORN staff giving tax advice on how to set up a brothel with 13 year old hookers. It has everything you could want corruption and sleazy action at tax funded organizations thats got government ties. But nobodys covering that story why?
Charlie Gibson: (laugh) I dont even know about it. Uh, so you got me at a loss, I dont know. Uh, uh, but, but My goodness if its got everything including sleaziness in it we should talk about it this morning.
Roma: This is the American way
Charlie Gibson: Well maybe, maybe thats one you just leave to the cables.
Roma: Well I think that this is a huge issue because theres so much funding that goes into this organization and its a multi
Charlie Gibson: Well, I know weve done some stories about ACORN before but uh, uh this one I dont know about.
Roma: Jake Tapper did some blogging on it. I know hes at least blogged once on this scandal.
Charlie Gibson: You guys, you guys are really up on the uh on the website.
Footage of the San Bernardino investigation was not available at the time of the interview.
Thank you to WLS AM Chicago for providing the audio.

[begins about 4 minutes, 30 secs into the audio clip. More incredible audio clips from the new Acorn videos later in the audio (apprx 11 mins into it) - total length of audio: apprx 35 mins. you can slide the bar over to the 4-1/2 min mark]
Theres something deeply wrong with journalism that scrutinizes and criticizes the institutions of free and successful nations, but produces puff pieces on the supposed achievements of totalitarian dictatorships. On Thursday, CNN aired a piece of Communist Party propaganda about how Cuba could serve as a model for health care reform in the United States, complete with an authoritative sound bite from an American medical expert, identified only as someone whos lived and worked in Cuba for decades.
But the expert, Gail Reed, is a longtime admirer of the Cuban revolution, married to the Cuban official who served as ambassador to Grenada in the early 1980s when U.S. troops liberated the island from hardline communists who had executed the leftist Prime Minister Maurice Bishop. She's also worked at Granma, Cubas official communist party newspaper.
As for Reed, she was profiled in the Miami Herald back in 1983 after she and her husband returned to Cuba after American forces liberated Grenada. She talked about the fear she felt at seeing U.S. Marines surrounding the Cuban embassy, and told the newspaper, I feel I have a very strong identification with the Cuban revolution.
When I first came to Cuba in the 70s, I was very impressed with their efforts in building a new kind of society, Reed explained.
501(c)3’s can “supposedly” participate in issues advocacy, but may not endorse a specific candidate. But there is a lot of gray area in this and groups like the Conservative Coalition have been taken to court because of their Voter’s Guides, which advocated stands on certain issues, but did not endorse candidates.
Churches are not supposed to endorse candidates, but that law is obviously not applied universally.
That’s my understanding.
thank and FRegards
Lame Stream Media run by Progressively Liberal Mediots.
CNN : “ Closed News Network”
Mockery is our best tool since that whole industry rests on their fraudulent claims to intellectual credibility with their reader/viewer.
Destroy that claim, destroy the industry.
“The Sycophant Media”
The main point, is to NEVER use the term MSM when commenting on these Obamaphile organizations.
We all must get a grip on our own vocabulary, and not let the leftists in our country tell us what words to use in political discussions.
“State Run Media” describes it the best.
At present the government provides direction on content.
If they get bailouts or special tax considerations or any similar type of government handout, then the title is accurate from a business standpoint as well.
I prefer Government Run Media...which is what they are taking talking points from Axelrod at least once a day.
Well then, once the media takes the money they will be officially “state run” won’t they.
We know that they carry Obama’s water now it’s just official.
Constitution? what Constitution?
“Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) has introduced S. 673, - “Newspaper Revitalization Act,” that would the news outlets tax deals if they were to restructure as 501(c)(3)”
“Congress shall make no law ..abridging the freedom ..of the press;”
The Major News source, Fox has reported a huge scandal involving a government agency called Acorn, video’s of the corruption of this agency has spread across the country and with promise of more to come. Developing.
Members of Minority News, (ABCNBCCBS etal), when asked why they haven’t reported on this scandal the answers went from they didn’t know about it to they were waiting for verification from the New York Times.
State run media is more correct.
