DENVER, Colo. -- Fall officially starts Tuesday at 3:19 p.m., but it will feel a little more like winter in some spots.

Tuesday will start off chilly. Temperatures will dip into the 30s in some spots, spurring a FREEZE WARNING for the western slope and Palmer Divide. This warning is in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday.

A strong cold front roared into Colorado on Monday morning and brought an abrupt end to the lovely summer weather over the weekend. Temperatures took a dive from the 80s to the upper 30s over the Metro area and rain was mixed with snow. In the mountains and foothills, wet snow fell for most of the day, bringing over 10 inches of snow to some mountain locations just west of Denver.

A WINTER STORM WATCH is in effect for elevations above 6,500 feet from Tuesday night through Wednesday. These areas could pick up an additional 6 to 12 inches over the next 24 to 36 hours.

This on the day Zero addresses the UN on rising seas, droughts, and famine. Poetic.

This summer (in the cape cod region) was miserable lots of rain and fairly cool temperatures. We had one month of summer this year really hurt business.

Mr. Obama better turn global warming back on. I want to inherit beach front property after the ice bergs go!

Damn, it’s still 98-100 degrees here. Seem like summer just won’t go away here in central CA.

Cool weather...I remember something about having to wear sweaters and such. 100+ degrees here in SoCal with Santa Ana winds added to it. [sigh]...one day closer to winter.

I picked everything a week or so ago. Our first frost is usually around this time.

Only thing left are apples, they can take it (I hope...)

Yup. My son in Denver logged on yesterday to tell me it was snowing. We have termination dust on the mountains here, but at least it’s not like it was LAST summer. We had snow on the mountains on July 21. Not a record, but still...

The dew point was +25F last night in Pocatello. Freeze warnings and clear skies. The actual low only made it to +41F. The record low for the date is +22F. Normal is +40F. Snow will be coming soon to the local mountains.
