Irene Vilar worries that her self-described "abortion addiction" will be misunderstood, twisted by the pro-life movement to deny women the right to choose.

Latina author Irene Vilar's new book, "Impossible Motherhood," explores her dark past: 15 abortions in 16 years. Pro-choice, she hopes her shocking story will spark a national discussion on abortion, one that won't compromise a woman's right to reproductive freedom.
As press on the book has begun to leak out, Vilar -- a literary agent and editor --- says she has already sensed "an inkling of hatred."

Was she competing with Whoopi ?
So she would stop taking birth control to intentionally get pregnant so she could undergo another abortion.
This is a mental disorder and the article dismisses it.
Let’s face facts, there are a lot of crazy people out there.
What a sociopath.
Did she do this just so she could write a book about it?
Alternatively, is she lying or wildly exaggerating just so she can write a book about it?
I can’t read this entire article due to the sickening level of outrage I feel at this moment, but in the midst of her own psychotic selfishness and adoration of her ideals, has she ever remotely considered the irreparable damage she is doing to her own body? How many of these procedures can a female tolerate before she basically disintegrates from the inside?
You know, I don’t even want to know the answer to that. This woman needs help.
She doesn’t ‘need help’, she needs a rope and a tall tree.
How long before some liberal gives her a Mother of the Year award?
15 Abortions would be a good title for a rock album of B-Sides and unreleased material...
Just to clarify.....my point is this: if we can’t appeal to her with the value and sanctity of human life, the waste of human potential, her total surrender to immorality, or her complete devaluation of her own potential and personal self, can’t she just stop because she’s probably killing herself? Is there no argument that could possibly, with a person such as this, get someone to not get an abortion?
My guess is no. Pure selfishness.
Does she expect parades in her honor?
Does she think we will build statues to her?
Does she want status as Queen?
What did she expect reaction to be? I thin most of the people who call themselves “pro-choice” would have nothing but contempt for this filth.
Mental Retardation can bring book contracts
She blows the argument that this “Is HER body”
Fifteen times she opened up HER body to a sperm donor..after which an unborn child took up space in her womb.
Once that life begins - the womb belongs to the baby!!!!
That is nine-tenths of the law, after all.
God works in the strangest of ways! This book and this woman, will do as much for the pro life moment as Barak Obama and Healthcare is doing for the conservatives and, really, mainstream people of America.
I'd wonder how her thinking process is working here.
First, the pro-life movement (and just how in the name of Molech did "pro-life" make it into an article like this?) doesn't, as a rule, depend on extreme cases to make its arguments.
It doesn't grade on a curve. Even one run-of-the,-um,-mill abortion (let's put aside the hard cases, which in any case are no way to legitimize all abortions anyway) is one abortion too many. In other words, if you actually believe "safe, legal, and rare," you probably don't describe yourself as "pro-life."
Second, what if "the pro-life movement," trying to seize on this opportunity, nevertheless cynically "twists her self-described 'abortion addiction' to deny women the right to choose"?
Yes, I do expect a good number of "mildly pro-choice" people to be bothered by this story. I do mean the story itself here, not how it can be "twisted."
Still, though, I can see such people treating it simply as some tragic anomaly. Like, fifteen abortions by one woman is a bit much, but one abortion per woman (or, hey, even one abortion each for fifteen women) is, like, completely excusable! Don't you believe in choice, or are you an ignorant right-wing fundamentalist chauvinist pig who sends money to abortion clinic bombers????
So I can expect this brought up from time to time in the future. I just don't expect this to be some major rallying cause. If millions and millions of abortions don't bother you, what's fifteen?
Even so, I look forward to seeing some variety in pro-"choice" arguments. The old ones were getting stale.
Don't like abortions? Don't have
I knew a woman who claimed to have had eight. V’s wife.
