TWO-thirds of doctors "oppose the proposed health-care plan," reports an Investors Busi ness Daily/TIPP poll. Almost half would "consider leaving their practice or taking an early retirement" if "Congress passes its health-care plan." Many of my colleagues feel like we're already struggling -- nor are we prepared to take care of tens of millions more patients.
An Association of American Medical Colleges survey predicts a doctor shortage of 150,000 (at current rates of population growth) by 2025 if universal health insurance is adopted. The doctors we do have would be overwhelmed with far more patients than we could realistically take care of. We'd have to work under huge time pressures, and the service we could deliver would decline.

That’s exactly what is happening in France .
Doctor numbers are decreasing fast since their work is becoming harder and harder for low fees(22 Euros for a GP consultation nevermind how long it lasts).
The age average of the french GP is now about 50...Surgeries are closing because retired doctors can’t find colleagues to succeed
Midwives, nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants will be used to fill in the gaps, as they already do to some extent. Medicaid already re-imburses NP’s at same rate as MD’s. Why put the extra time in training, especially for primary care? Either the training doesn’t amount to much, or MDs are already being robbed blind.
Some of us see France in our future in many respects, the medical system being just one of them.
SCARY
Too easy. Here’s my plan to fix the shortage: First, we have to take over the college loan programs so we can give the money to who we want. Second, we some how get control of the education system so we can influence the admission standards at the medical schools. Third, we work through ACORN-like organizations to funnel would be students that will trade volunteer work for tuition to the medical schools. We will add millions of doctors...although they may be mediocre, but no one should complain because the health care is virtually free and we can just tell them to shut up and go elsewhere if they don’t like it. Where will they go...Canada? HAHAHAHA I love being the ruler of the world!!!/s
Look for doctors to do what was done on September 12, PROTEST!
If we allow our government to install Socialized Medicine in this country, and the bills now being discussed are indeed Socialized medicine, doctors will quit in droves and find some other means of income or retire.
The doctors who remain in practice will demand money under the table, as they do now in Canada. Everyone loses all around: the country loses doctors, the government loses revenue, the remaining doctors lose their living and we lose free choice and good medical care.
By the way, I’m still waiting to hear that Obama and the Congressmen and Senators and czars and Supremes will be covered by the plan they are telling us is so great. If it’s so great, why don’t they accept it? Hm?
You're not alone.
If Obama has a second term, the US will look far more like East Germany than France.
And Hussein has the effrontery to claim that doctors and nurses support his (non-existant) plan!
We’ve already had “a day without Mexicans,” days without art, and days without all sorts of leftie pet groups.
Why not a day without doctors? That’d wake folks up.
“Some animals are more equal than others. “
“Animal Farm” by George Orwell.
“Our internist said to my husband nObamas healtcare plan will be good for you and good for me. We were both shocked. “
He’s on the take.
What do you mean? and from who?
How long has he been an internist? Young Dr. or old Dr.? What state is his private practice in?
“What do you mean? and from who?”
He has some vested interest in Obama’s Socialized Medicine. Some emotional or financial tie which tells him he would profit from it (he won’t).
Must be an AMA loyalist.
