DeLay dances all over "leaderless" GOP
Politico ^ | September 23, 2009 | Glenn Thrush

Posted on 09/23/2009 10:24:47 AM PDT by rightwingintelligentsia

Tom DeLay is Cha-Cha-ing back into the GOP fray, telling PoliticsDaily.com that he thinks the Republican Party is leaderless - and doesn't have the organizational capacity to take back the Hill anytime soon.

The former majority leader, taking a break from "Dancing with the Stars," blasts the Dem's health care reform plans but says his old allies are virtually helpless to stop it.

The Hammer:

"Republicans will pick up some seats in the House, maybe 20, but not enough to take back control."

Shaking his head with frustration, he added, "The Republican Party doesn't have the organization or leadership to take advantage of this dire political situation that Obama is in now. We have these grassroots sprouting up, but not the party organization to use them."

"Republicans are leaderless,'' he went on, "so we're just fighting each other instead of Obama's radical policies. There's no political leader of the party taking control. So, Republicans are just attacking each other for being too far right or too far left. Even Rush and Hannity are doing it."

He then goes on to say that the current leadership on the Hill -- which includes several reps who took political hits for backing him through his ethical woes -- are a bunch of "old" guys who can't "aren't the leaders the party needs."

I anticipate the Republicans picking up far more than 20 seats in 2010 and new leaders to emerge from the newly-elected.

GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZ! It’s sooo simple. All we need is some power-people, and lots of money. We could easily retake the party.

Very simple. /sarc.

Enter Palin maybe. She doesn’t have to run NOW, but she could help getting the right people elected.

There are few who are standing up for conservative values, policies or beliefs in Congress. It’s like the GOP is the Keystone Kops.

Problem is, guys like Delay and Newt flame out after 3-4 years, either justified or unjustified, and others who get real jobs, and the Dems have careerists like Pelosi, Fwank, Waxman, Rangel, Conyers.

There’s no continuity, no familiar faces to drive home the message year-after-year.

Just shut up Tommy - you had your time, now go make a fool of yourself dancing.

Say what u will about Delay. He was a leader. They didn’t call him the hammer for nothing.

If u think Michael Steele, RNC chairman, Bonehead Bohnier, house minority leader and Mitch Mcconnell, Senate minority leader are leaders, u are livig in la la land.

Yeah, the GOP may pick up 20 seats with this sorry bunch.
But with REAL leadership, they could pick up 60 seats.
It will not happen untill there is some leadership changes.

Leaderless, clueless and gutless. Ironic that it comes from one of the people who was an integral part of the culture of corruption and big spending that sank the GOP in 2006.

....ACORN, Dr Chu, the Emanuel brothers, Van Jones, Geithners income tax ect are GIFTS....and no one has the guts to use them to hit the Dems in the crotch with....Andrew Breitbart and a couple of college kids with a video cam have more spunk than the entire GOP leadership.

The RNC keeps sending me their stupid donation forms along with my “RNC Membership” card.

Often it will say “last notice” which of course, it never is.

Every time I receive one I write on it that they will not get one more dime from me until they show some actual leadership and work to get viable candidates elected.

I see zip, zilch, nada, nuthin from this party right now that would indicate they can take back this country. They make me sick.

Michael Steele has been completely ineffectual.

Here we go again — Politico is no friend of Republicans — in fact DeLay is not much of a friend either with his running in the primary and then dropping out of the race.

With that lone detail, could care less what he is going to say as he will never be trusted or even relevant to a host of us.

Who cares what the little general has to say. Didn’t like him before and don’t like now. He is a has been that burned his bridges.

There won’t be any leadership changes until conservatives force those changes upon the current RINOs in power. It’s not like they’re just going to give it up for the sake of the conservative movement. Time to throw the bums out.

“party voting but you seem perfectly fine when it was tiny Tom”

I said he was a leader. I did not say he was a great leader.

However, given todays state of GOP leadership, Steele, Bonehead Bohnier and Mcconnell, I would open my arms to a Tom Delay style leader.

Miss Enchilada, I was referring to not being aware he was such a scummy typical politician. I knew who he was. He was not my congressman and prior to Al Gore's invention of the internet it was not quite as easy to gather information.

You can imagine how far you can stick your blonde comment Senorita.

They didn’t call him the hammer for nothing.

My point is at this moment, when a huge mistake is about to be made if Obama’s Health Care Reform passes, I would take a Delay, a flawed Delay, over the bunch in leadership now.

You disagree, and i respect that.
