Facebook Funder Linked to ACORN Sting
NBC Bay Area ^ | Wed, Sep 23, 2009 | Jackson West

Videos of young couple posing as sex workers getting financial advice made possible by a generous handout

In the world of far-right libertarian economics, altruism is considered a sin.

However, that didn't stop billionaire ideologue Peter Thiel, who minted his fortune as a cofounder of PayPal and investor in Facebook, from giving "about $10,000" after being approached by provocateur James O'Keefe. That money, and other funds from the Leadership Institute, a conservative think-tank, was used to film a number of stunts, from surprising taxpayers with bills for the bank bailout to offering Planned Parenthood donations, but with racist intent.

O'Keefe is best known for posing as a pimp and getting advice from activist organization ACORN on how to launder money for a home and claim sex slaves as dependents for tax purposes.

The information belies O'Keefe's stated claim that he's an entirely independent operator and simple concerned citizen.

Instead, he appears to be leeching off the wealth of others in order to fund his attacks on organizations that help the poor and disenfranchised.

But then, terrible pimp outfits don't buy themselves.

In the world of far-right libertarian economics

They have to throw the "far right" in there to let everyone know that they are talking about really evil people.

Is it "far right" to think that NGO's that receive government financing shouldn't be incubating a scheme to bring underage prostitutes across the border?

If that's "far right", what does it say about the "far left"?

In the world of far-right libertarian economics, altruism is considered a sin.

1. Only some like Ayn Rand's closest followers feel that way.

2. It isn't altruism if you do it to embarrass your political and economic foes - i.e. for your own sake and not for others. Well, maybe it is altruism if ACORN can be destroyed (or at least neutered) and the world on the whole is made a better, freer place.

lets dig up dirt on the whistleblowers, not the criminal organisation. The main stream media are accomplice to organised crime. They protect crimes commited by left wingers. Funny we never hear terrorist news conducted by environmentalist terror groups, yet we get police summaries at end of year of the high number of crimes commited by eco terrorists

“With racist intent?” I don’t really think their PP prank demonstrated what they were trying to show, but the whole purpose of it was to expose PP’s supposed racism.

In the world of far-right libertarian economics, altruism is considered a sin.

It is true that objectism holds altruism to be evil. However, it is far from the case that all libertarians are objectivists (for example, I'm a libertarian but not an objectivist.) But objectivists may classify an act as non-altruistic, even though most others would see it as such. What matters to an objectivist is whether or not the act can rationally be construed as helpful to the wellbeing of the actor.

My position is simply that the concept of altruism has no utility, because it intrinsically involves a logical contradiction—so it's a concept that cannot have any reification. Why not? Because it is impossible to have any goal with any higher precedence than to achieve one's goals. So if your goal is to help others, then by doing so you are achieving your own highest goal—and so your action is not altruistic—by definition, it cannot be.

Bottom line: It is logically impossible to choose to act against your own will, since any such choice is also your will.

If anyone thinks that getting rid of ACORN is an act of altruism, I've got a bridge to sell.

It is first and foremost the act of someone who earned his money and doesn't want it taxed to the heavens, then spent on garbage like ACORN. If it has the added benefit of getting rid of an administration on a wild spending bender, all the better.

All in all, I'd say that the money he spent was a wise investment.

Conservative areas and people donate more money than liberal areas and people by far - whether they are rich or poor. Giving out of free will - far right bad. The government taking by force - social justice good.

Money? Not what dad said:

The oh-so-sexy reality regarding this little nugget is that it cost these two acorn-crackers $1,300 of their own money. It’s amazing what one can do with a little cash, grandma’s chinchilla coat, a miniskirt and a whole lot of vision, eh? The only cash they received from FOX was for their hotel stay and their airfare while they did Beck’s and Hannity’s shows. That’s the truth. Oh, and as far as me giving her any pesos, for this epoch her papasito gave her nada. Not a penny. No FOX funds. No crazy Christian dad dollars.

No, It Wasn’t My Idea for Hannah Giles to Dress Like a Hooker and Infiltrate ACORN, (Doug Giles)

......terrible pimp outfits don't buy themselves....

Yes, it was a terrible outfit .............but O'Keefe did not buy it.

That was his grandad's swing-era hat (from the attic) and the ratty chinchilla jacket was his grandmother's castoff.

He did buy the cane---in the Dollar Store.

It cost the two $1300 total---for the coast-to-coast expose---to get the goods on ACORN.

That's right. O'Keefe's granny paid good money for that fur coat. She loaned it to him for his video performance. The girl wore it in one of the stings.
