They should let North Korea or Brazil or Mexico drill for it, then sell the oil to Europe!

Unless its on Nazi Pelosi’s property, forget it. Why would California ever need more oil?

God has blessed California with a vast amount of resources from oil to fertile soil to grow virtually anything. Now all we have to do is get rid of the liberals and then our great state can attain its potential.

Al Gore was a big stockholder in Occidental Petroleum, inherited from his father, who was a protege of Armand Hammer.

I wonder if he still owns the stock.

If we allowed oil drilling here in the US the following problems would be fixed:

Its really a no brainer. The only thing standing in the way is the Democratic party.

He made a big chunk of money when Occidental was allowed to buy the Naval Petroleum Reserve. Something he forgot to disclose until the deal was done. Oops!

California will not be allow to extract the oil because of endangered roach found in nearby Nevada desert which migrates to California every year. You can bet the environmental groups will file enough law suits to prevent anything actually contributing to society or to the well being of the citizens of California.

” the Defense Authorization Act of 1996, the U.S. Department of Energy was directed to sell the assets of NPR-1. On February 5, 1998, the Department of Energy and Occidental Petroleum Corporation concluded the largest divestiture of federal property in the history of the U.S. government. The sale agreement completed a privatization process that began in 1995 when the Clinton Administration proposed selling Elk Hills. The divestment removed the federal government out of the business of producing oil and gas at Elk Hills. In May 1995 the Clinton Administration proposed placing the federally-owned Elk Hills Naval Petroleum Reserve on the market as part of its efforts to reduce the size of government and return inherently non-federal functions to the private sector. In February 1996, the Congress passed and the President signed the Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1996 containing authorization to proceed with the sale”

Anytime Democrats suddenly take an interest in reducing the size of government (not to mention privatizing government oil) you have to realize you’re seeing a sleight of hand in action.

Wasn't that a secret bidding process? Oxcy won the bid, but there was never a straight answer for how much, and how much others bid on it, right?

This took place as Clinton/Gore were voted out, right before they hit the "out" door (with the "w" keys pried from Whitehouse keyboards in their back pockets).

A pay-off to Hammer & Oxy, with the Gore's still holding Oxy stock. If not all of what they had a-hold of, open & out-right, then by proxy shells, oh, you betcha!

I think it is “The Teapot Dome Scandal” part 2

“In 1921, by executive order of President Harding, control of Naval oil reserves at Teapot Dome in Wyoming and at Elk Hills, California, was transferred from the Navy Department to the Department of the Interior. The oil reserves had been set aside for the Navy by President Taft. In 1922, Albert B. Fall, U.S. Secretary of the Interior, leased, without competitive bidding, the Teapot Dome fields to Harry F. Sinclair, an oil operator, and the field at Elk Hills, California, to Edward L. Doheny. These transactions became (1922–23) the subject of a Senate investigation conducted by Sen. Thomas J. Walsh”

May I make a request to this administration? Please drill off the eastern coast of FL. Specifically between PBC and Ft. Lauderdale. Please. That way most of the crude coming up through the ocean floor might be siphoned off, so I and the family won't have to take it home with us on our person...

Obviously this propaganda was funded by Big Oil. We need to get off our addiction and ride bicycles made from hemp fiber. If they pierce Gaia to extract her oil, it will damage the ecological systems in the area for 10,000 years and contribute to the destruction of the planet. Indigenous species in the area will go extinct, and it won't make any difference in the supply of oil, anyway.

Well, I think I hit all the liberal arguments. :)

I believe I also read that Occidental wasn’t even the highest bidder. It was such a benefit to Gore, tho, how could they NOT award the deal to them.

I wasn’t politically aware at that time in my life, but I did watch the news and I don’t remember hearing any of the anti-capitalists excoriating Gore over making such a big profit.

lol In that area it’s kangaroo rats.

We had a severe mouse problem at the warehouse so one of the guys put out sticky traps. One of them ended up with 3 baby kangaroo rats stuck in it. The supervisor made him immediately bury them before the resident eco-nut found out because the fine is $10,000/rat (supervisor’s words). You could prolly add $5000 per since they were babies.

well, if the political winds ever stop blowing the wrong way, this could be a great deal for Bakersfield. In the past few years, oil was winding down there, and the thought was that it was an old area that was almost played out. Sounds like Bakersfield might get a new lease on life, if given a chance.

By the way, I drove through the area northeast of Bakersfield a few years ago on a little state highway. For some miles it is an otherworldly expanse of low hills with dry grass, and above ground pipes everywhere. Very desolate and somewhat post-apocalyptic. Somebody ought to write a lonesome song or story about it. It is very evocative.

California is moving to a soy-based economy so they don’t need that oil.

Don’t know that it is related, but Hannity showed Feinstein explaining her no vote to turn the water back on in the San Joaquin Valley. She said it would be like ‘Pearl Harbor’. It’s a clue, I think, but to what?
