FBI Terror Probe Expands, Intensifies--Nearly All of the Bureau's U.S. Field Offices involved

Investigation Into Alleged NYC Bomb Plot Includes Nearly All of the Bureau's U.S. Field Offices

Criminal Complaint Suggests Cops May Have Tipped-Off Zazi By Questioning New York Imam, Seizing Car

The FBI is expanding its investigation into an alleged terror plot targeting New York City, and nearly every one of the FBI's 57 field offices in the country and several overseas are now in on the case, working along with local police.

On Wednesday, the NYPD was showing a new training video in precincts citywide detailing the intelligence from the agencies. Bomb Squad Commander Lt. Marc Torre narrates the video, giving regular cops some tips on how to spot evidence of homemade bombs.

"Of particular concern to us is a family of explosives called peroxide-based explosives," he says in the video.

It's part of the now-nationwide alert as police try to locate whoever might have been working with terror suspect Nazibullah Zazi, the Afghan-born Denver resident who federal sources believe is the central figure in a terror cell involving at least 12 people. Police are being told to watch for any large quantities of hydrogen peroxide, drain cleaner, acetone, or nail polish remover – various types of acids – and large quantities of ammonia nitrate or urea fertilizer.

That's coupled with visits to public storage areas to enlist the assistance of employees there, and stepped-up security on mass transit, hotels, stadiums, and entertainment complexes.

It's not just New York either. People across the country are experiencing the same routine as folks who were going through heightened security at Citi Field for the Mets game last night.

Hopefully they aren’t taking their eyes off of the G20 summit in Pittsburgh. Sounds kind of diversionary to me.

FWIW, there are baseball games across the river from the G20 Thursday afternoon and Friday night.

Ah yes, Triacetone triperoxide (TATP) and hexamethylenetriperoxide diamine (HMTD). TATP is known to middle eastern terrorists as "the devil's mother."

It's what the University of Oklahoma bomber had in his backpack when he had a premature detonation outside a packed football stadium. FReeper "PhiKapMom" was there and heard the explosion. Her son's friend felt the heat and blast from it.

I think Obama’s main concern is improving his image....

So this is Dukakis in a tank.

Wonder how many manhours are going to this....instead of doing a serious interrogation of this clown?

I favor the Marathon Man technique.

Is it safe?

And definitely use the Putin system of legislative and journalistic compliance.

There's a war on.

They've breached the White House.

Let’s make sure we completely leave the CIA out of this so Al Qaida can do maximum damage.

I was listening to Hugh Hewitt the other night and he had someone from Justice on (GWB) it may have been Andrew McCarthy

The gyst of the conversation was these guys were picked up too soon and the entire network wasn't snagged. The guest was very concerned about this.

This looks like an aw-$!+ moment and they are trying to fix it after the damage has been done,. I do not have a good feeling about this one. It looks like a major screw up to me, but I am not nor have a law enforcement background.

I *hope* these writers did not mean, nor think, that drain cleaner, peroxide, or acetone were "various types of acids".

Morons.

I suggest they try DC for the Day Of Muslim Prayer where they are going to “pray for the soul of America”

The prayer before the strike.

That would be interesting. However, as it is. Obama and Congress repealed Pres. Bush cabal over the States.

I'm sorry, but you were unclear. Has Section 333 been repealed or is that the current law??

Looks to be a punctuation disaster rather than a comprehension disaster, at least on the part of the author. My guess is an editor threw in the dashes after the fact.

Replace the first dash with a comma and eliminate the second one, then it appears to be more correct.

You mean the ‘lone suicide bomber’ we had who had so much explosives in his car and apartment it took 18 trips to the bomb disposal site here in Norman because it they took it all at once and it blew up, it would have taken out a city block. When they set off the explosives, it shook the house and rattled the windows.

Was talking to another Freeper and we remember the OU ‘lone suicide bomber’ was from CO and if you saw a picture of his brother, he looked the same as the bomber.

Not often it takes the FBI three weeks to discover a suicide note.

Most of us have figured out now, the stories used were to cover up what else they found on the computer.

Well, they ARE Dems, so we’re not looking for any proper behavior. Can’t even imagine what or who is left in Rochester these days. ANyone with a brain and/or education probably got out years ago. It was always iffy but had Kodak anchoring the local economy. Now? Who knows?

Glad I don't work on the bomb squad, that stuff is nasty.

Just heard that Zazi has a 1.5 million bond and his ‘family’ is putting up their houses for collateral and he could be released as early as tonite.
