Scandal stings ACORN in N.C.

WASHINGTON -- North Carolina's ACORN office has had to lay off all eight of its employees in the wake of a scandal that has rocked the national office of the grass-roots organizing group.

Yet many workers have continued the past three weeks as unpaid volunteers for the nonprofit organization, reaching out to low- and moderate-income workers who might need help with issues ranging from landlord fights to high-priced mortgages.

In Washington, hidden-camera videos made this summer by two young conservative activists that appear to show ACORN workers in other states encouraging illegal behavior have led to federal inquiries and inspired Congress to act to cut off much of the national organization's federal funding.

On Wednesday, ACORN sued James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles, who did the taping, and Breitbart.com LLC, whose Web site posted the videos, in Maryland, saying state law requires consent to create sound recordings.

ACORN has laid off .0000001 percent of their national employees. They have HUNDREDS of offices and branches all over the country. It’s an infestation of welfare parasites and criminals.

"Appear" to show?

Hey, Obscurer, I got your news flash right here.

THIS is why your sales are down.

You are Marxist shills, in charge of illiterate peasants: and even when you plagiarize your content via AP, you still have to cover up for the left.

Then you have the nerve to project your own ignorance and bias onto your customers.

Cheers!

Does it sting at all, N&O, to be called "state-run media?" Does it embarrass young idealists to continue to apologize and make excuses for a now-proven (beyond reasonable doubt) criminal enterprise, no matter what their methods because their intentions were "pure?"

Based on the level of emotion and equivocation, the unquestionable reactionary impulse of those still defending this mass movement, I offer that it does hurt, a lot. How else does one explain those who try and lay blame on the kitchen light for exposing the roaches who scurry when it is turned on.

It's only natural to direct anger at the alarm clock for exposing the hour, but that does not make the anger rational. Nevertheless, ACORN sits well with the nested criminal fascists who hold this (and the Democrat Party) franchise in North Carolina.

Poor little ACORN, the workers are really heros helping pimps and whores the world over without pay, sacrificing themselves in their continuing effort to register mickey and donald in all 57 states!

I love this part, "appear" to show? Just how do they think they put words in these peoples mouths? The liberal press is a carbuncle on the a** of the USA.

n Charlotte, head organizer Hector Vaca spent time this week driving through neighborhoods, visiting homeowners who are struggling with their mortgage payments.

I'd love to do this. In fact, I'll give out all of my advice for free right here.

1) Don't buy stuff you can't afford.

2) Don't buy a house you can't afford.

3) Save up enough money so that if you lose your job, you won't lose your house or any of your stuff.

If you didn't follow the rules, well, too bad. Take 10 large steps back. But - at least for now - America is such a great country that you can lose everything, start all over again, and get it right the second time. Or third time. Or the tenth.

The rocket surgeon Editor of the News and Record in Greensboro stated he wasn’t allowing coverage of the ACORN scandal because it isn’t local news.

lay off all eight of its employees

Wow. The entire office. That should be an interesting video. That's assuming that was the reason they were let go, it could be due to some other investigation...it is ACORN, after all.
