The FBI says it arrested a Jordanian citizen for trying to bomb a Dallas skyscraper.
As we were first to report here on CBS11TV.com, 19-year-old Hosam Maher Husein Smadi was arrested earlier today.
The FBI says agents arrested Smadi today after he placed what he thought was a bomb at the base of Fountain Place, a 60-story skyscraper located at 1445 Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas.
The FBI says undercover agents found out about Smadi's intent to commit violent attacks in Dallas.
Undercover agents met with Smadi several times, they say. During one of those meetings, agents say Smadi decided to place a car bomb at the base of Fountain Place.
The FBI says it "ensured the (car bomb) contained only an inert/inactive explosive device which contained no explosive materials." The release from the FBI does not explain how agents did that.
Agents say they arrested Smadi Thursday afternoon after he placed the inert car bomb next to the building. The FBI says the public was never in any danger.
Agents also say Smadi was not connected to any terror organization.
He will make his first appearance before a federal judge on Friday.

I think if this guy had shown any demonstrable relationship to Bummer, the Feebs would have called off the sting like a hot potato. Holder would have made sure of that.
He is Jordanian. Is he in the country legally? When did he arrive and under what circumstances? Did he enter the country with anyone else?
Interesting....we had to evacuate our building two weeks ago due to a bomb threat.....a duffel bag had been left on the street corner and then a threat called in. Dallas PD found and detonated the bomb.
How long till we hear the “muslims are peaceful” crap?

You gotta love the timing. O is making his clueless disarmament speech to a group that includes wildly applauding jihadists, while one of their brethern is trying to blow up a building. It’s like a skit on liberal cluelesness. If it wasn’t so sad, it’d be pretty darn funny.
Same thing happened today in Springfield, Illinois. FBI sting operation set a van in front of Federal building, guy got out, got in another car and attempted to activate what he believed to be a 1000 pound bomb with his cell phone.
Two fake bombs at same time with no connection???? Are we being distracted from something else???
It’s not just the immigrants that we can expect to commit terrorist acts, the American=born Muslims and converts are just as likely to commit these crimes.
(Sigh) No one is listening.
Local news said he targeted that building because there apparently is a Wells Fargo Bank in it and he has a thing about Wells. Makes me wonder if he isn’t working for Obama and gang out to get the bankers.
