WASHINGTON - A large military spending bill moving through Congress contains a little-noticed outlay for Boston that has nothing to do with national defense: $20 million for an educational institute honoring late Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts. Watchdog groups rap $20m earmark for Kennedy institute The earmark, tucked into the defense bill at the request of Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts, requires US taxpayers to help the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate realize its goal of building a repository for Kennedys papers and an accompanying civic learning center

let the Kennedys pay for it.
Let the Kennedy estate pay for it’s own stinkin’ institute!
Ditto
Put the “institute” in some local bar - dedicate a few bar stools and be done with it.
Will those papers include all the legal stuff that covered up Mary Joe’s death?
The payoffs to the family?
The payoffs to other women that slime attached?
Tapes of all the phone calls to work his slime deals with other senate slime mold entities?
Perhaps records of how his criminal ambassador father avoided prosecution?
Lawmakers spending taxpayer money to build memorials to eachother.
It should be illegal.
Can't they just change the name of Boston Logan? Maybe add a big distillery.
They are going to use this $ for scuba training, an underwater rescue course, and drunk driving prevention. And this just in, an ethics course.
Will we never be rid of him?
Piss off, Lurch. Go take it out of Terri’s ketchup bottle if you want a monument to Kopekne’s killer.
WTF? These don't cost $20 million!
Kennedy Institute? Isn’t the Betty Ford Clinic sufficient?
The saying around here is that the Kennedys have deep pockets and short arms.
Kerry has enough money. He can pay for it himself.

June, 1970 -- Kerry joins Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), a national veterans group that is part of the Peoples Coalition for Peace and Justice. The PCPJ is a broad coalition of local and national organizations, including the Communist Party, USA, "committed to conducting demonstrations aimed at ending the war in Indochina, and poverty, racism and injustice at home." The VVAW, CCI and PCPJ all have headquarters at 156 Fifth Avenue in New York City. VVAW Executive Secretary Al Hubbard, a former Black Panther, is also on the coordinating committee of the PCPJ. Hubbard soon appoints Kerry to the VVAW's Executive Committee, bypassing the normal election process.

Let his wealthy family and friends raiste the funds. it should not be another government hand out.
The ought to make it an aquarium, with an artificial reef composed of Oldsmobiles and whiskey bottles.
Like all socialists, they want to feel good donating someone elses money.
The Institute will be great! There’s going to be a drunken car ride where you drive an Olds off a bridge and see if you can swim to shore. Young teens girls can practice being made in a ‘Waitress Sandwich’ in the new Teddy Bar and Grill. Chivas Regal is one of the main sponsors. Each guest will receive a small bottle emblazoned with Ted’s likeness.
Jeez...this guy was just a Seantor. 100 years from now, he will be little remembered.
Quick, name Senators from the 1880’s.
At best I might be able to name one or two.
This country has become so wrapped up in their own importance it laughable, and pathetic at the same time.
Name a school after him and move on. Sen Kirk is here. Kahn will be next.
"More than one out of every five dollars of the $126 million Massachusetts is receiving in earmarks from a $410 billion federal spending package is going to help preserve the legacy of the Kennedys."
The whole COUNTRY is paying for the sins of the father (Old Joe Kennedy). I used to think it was just the family being cursed by it.
~~PING!
Dear J F’n K.
Spare me.
Why do these a$%h&les think they deserve monuments paid for by the tax payers.
Great! A drunken unprincipled boor who tried to undermine a president of the United States using the KGB. And Americans should pay to venerate the guy.
.
Congress has not yet passed the Defense budget, which now includes the War funding, 5 days before the fiscal year starts, and they aren’t likely to do so before it does. It’s criminal, but then that’s redundant when speaking of Congress.
