Computerworld - A proposed amendment that would have given Congress more oversight over the White House cybersecurity czar and at least 17 other czars appointed by President Obama was shut down in the U.S. Senate today.

The amendment, proposed by Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), sought to restrict federal funds for the expenses of White House-appointed czars unless two conditions are met. One of them was to require the president to agree that every czar would respond to "reasonable requests" to testify before Congress on matters related to the office. The other required White House-appointed czars to issue a report to Congress twice a year. The proposed amendment was in an Interior Department environmental appropriations bill on the Senate floor.

I actually listened to most of that committee meeting and the bottom line is/was ... there's no such thing as a czar, so language cannot be adopted to even write a bill or ammendment.

baucus was as arrogant as zero (I intentionally refuse to capitalize their names)

The Senate does not need a bill they have the power to have oversight over the czars.

Wow the Republican door mat Senator Collins was unable to get her legislation through. But I thought that if the Republican were just nicer and easier to work with they would be able to get some of the legislation through. Maybe Senator Collins should spend less time breaking her foot off in the Republican party’s butt and more time challenging her Democrat peers. But then again she did say the Republican party has left her. I am sick of her type; I guess this was her attempt to validate that R next to her name.

I share that sentiment in refusing to capitalize their names. Silly little thing isn’t it? Still, strangely satisfying. Any insult I can think of to spurn their legitimacy.

The National Socialists in Congress will ensure that Obama’s Czars are unaccountable to the American people.

I agree. They are not deserving of having capitalized names.

Really? So these Czars are really senate shills?

I would have never guessed.

I have been telling people that Barry O. is a symptom and the real problem lies in the legislative branch.

Somehow we need to expose these chumps.

These people are participating actively in the communist takeover of America.

That makes them domestic enemies of the constitution.

Troops who understand should act.

“The National Socialists in Congress will ensure that Obama’s Czars are unaccountable to the American people.”

Good then only more fuel to stoke the anti-democratic election fires.

And if the DemocRATs decide what a “reasonable request” is then this bill would be meaningless, if passed. Susan Collins is a disgrace.

I guess they might get it in 2010...when we sweep Washington clean of the filth. Then again they are dense.

the bottom line is/was ... there's no such thing as a czar, so language cannot be adopted to even write a bill or ammendment.

Good points, and continuing that line of reasoning: anything these non-existent "czars" propose is just so much hot air, and anything they try to implement or enforce will be blantant violations of several existing criminal and civil laws.

Can we use that reasoning to resist anything they implement?

I hope we can clean out the trash in 2010.

With all the corruption in the non-transparent WH and Senate and with ACORN ‘s help, they do have an advantage. They would NEVER EVER WIN a legal election.
