Has Pelosi been spotted crying about this yet? Didn’t think so.

If it wasn’t for the acting out by sociopathic leftists, the police wouldn’t have to be there.

After all previous destruction by these people am I supposed to feel outraged at the police? These cops are protecting property and the people who live here, they’re not oppressing protest.

Well, these idiot anarchist riots are making all the front pages. But the real question is, what is the G-20 (now led by Obama) actually doing. Here's a little snippet I got today from FTN Financial: "The G-20 agreed to a peer-review process for economic policies and agreed G-20 meetings will permanently replace meetings of the G-8 (WSJ) or G-7 (NYT). Bloomberg News says the group is close to an agreement on capping bankers’ salaries as well." So, in other words, the salaries of American banking executives--and soon, no doubt, other private companies--will be determined by an international consortium with no legal power to do so. Here's the current membership of the G-20, which evidently has now replaced the G-7/G-8: Argentina: President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner Australia: Prime Minister Kevin Rudd Brazil: President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva Canada: Prime Minister Stephen Harper China: President Hu Jintao France: President Nicolas Sarkozy Germany: Chancellor Angela Merkel India: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Indonesia: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Italy: Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi Japan: Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama Mexico: President Felipe Calderón Russia: President Dmitry Medvedev Saudi Arabia: King Abdullah South Africa: President Jacob Zuma South Korea: President Lee Myung-bak Turkey: Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan United Kingdom: Prime Minister Gordon Brown United States: President Barack Obama The 20th member is the European Union

There was a dumpster lit on fire further up the road, so I went up there to see what I could see, and suddenly there were tons of people sprinting down the sidewalk away from the fire. SWAT vans and six or seven major police cars pulled up to Schenley Plaza.

Reddit, the next two hours were complete chaos. My campus was invaded by armored police officers. They threw actual tear gas into crowds of students. They SHOT students with rubber bullets. They beat slower-moving students with a baton. I saw a group of cyclists being herded down the sidewalk. A cop reached out and pushed a woman on a bike. She turned around and pushed her bike at the cop. Next thing we knew, he grabbed her by the face and slammed her down on the concrete.

They slowly advanced us back down Forbes Avenue, toward the major freshman dorms. Several protesters broke storefront windows. I'd guess 20 protesting, about 1,000 students watching (if that.) The police fired Sound Cannons at us, a new weapon never before used on US citizens, which plays a sonic pulse that gives major headaches. They fired more tear gas at the students.

Then riot squads came running up behind us and forced us into the Litchfield Towers Lobby. People who did not make it into the lobby before the riot squads got to the doors were grabbed, thrown to the ground, beaten, and arrested.

"Major police cars?"

Maybe this happened, but I'm fairly skeptical.

It reads like something a kid would write after attending a "What to say happened at the riot" seminar run by the Anarchist Club.

Pitt is an urban campus that spans many of the streets where the riots took place. It isn’t some rural campus with private roads.

Was it a ploy?

Hate to join the conspiracy side; but the sudden hard shift away from hope & change in the news just recently makes me wonder if "they" are looking for a crisis, any crisis, to shift the heat away from legislative shenanigans.

(Admitted Iranian nuclear facility, demands that Honduras restore Zalaya, "riots" at G-20 [that do not seem to approach what we saw the last time], a new terror plot aired almost daily, Pelosi's concern over "Race hatred", etc...)

Even the guy from PittBriefly said the kid was probably exaggerating to some extent, and the anarchists are idiots, but I don’t see how that justifies some of the behavior I’ve seen out of the authorities so far.

Yeah, that is all well and good (regulating CEO salaries at the international level) but when will they get an agreement on issues such as gun control, the environment (Co2 reduction parameters), open borders, sharing of US and European wealth with poor countries, and a single monetary system? //sarc off...

Ah, my alma mater...I got all my degrees there, taught at the law school, was president of the YAF. Pitt was never a political campus. At the height of the Vietnam protests, you might see 15-20 students at a protest.

Is this being covered by any of our MSM or it is only eyewitnesses plus the Brit media that are getting any word out?

Normally CNN would be camped out overnight to cover it with the Larry King Show on site if this were anything but violent LEFTISTS protesting.

Well, for example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J23HNJBbpcg

They were shoving her bike, she got pissed, pushed it at them, and then they hit her, threw her to the ground, dragged, cuffed and arrested her. Excessive much?

No. You fight with the police and you’re asking to be arrested.

They were pushing and shoving her from behind. Then they beat her, threw her to the ground, dragged her off to the side and arrested her. I don’t know what kind of abusive police state you’re comfortable living in, but that’s unacceptable in my book.

I’m living in Pennsylvania, about 40 minutes from all these hippies and anarchists coming here to cause trouble just to get attention for themselves. They’re running around on the streets smashing things with hammers. Throwing rocks at police and kicking tear gas canisters back at them. Most of us do not want them here. Or the stupid G-20. That’s where I come from.

If you’re a law abiding citizen you have no worry. If you’re peacefully protesting, you have no worry.

I’m sick of people trying to gin up some sort of police state conspiracy when all these cops are doing is letting these jerks know you aren’t going to come to Pittsburgh and cause trouble. These are not innocent pixies we’re talking about and I don’t feel one damned bit sorry for them.

Major police cars

yep. And I wondered about the "Armored Police". You suppose it was chain mail or full suits of plate armor?

I just don't see this happening the way the guy describes it. The piece read like the author heard it from somebody else, who knew somebody who talked to someone who saw it all happen from a distance.

And that justifies what they did to her how? Since some people are @sses, the next time you get stopped for speeding, they should be able to slap you around a little, then beat you and arrest you when you get mad about it?

Nobody’s denying that there were a bunch of idiots running around and committing vandalism, but that doesn’t justify law enforcement treating an unarmed person with excessive force. In some cases, they were just being dicks. And let’s face it, they’re decked out with armor and weapons. Having to club a woman on a bike is pretty ridiculous.

One of the great lessons that should have been learned from the sixties is that, if you are faced by a line of riot police AND they tell you to disperse, the best action is to turn around and go home, not give them the finger and start burning dumpsters.

LOL!

Yeah, I have issues with that case. The woman was wrong, but the cops are trained, and appeared to be rougher with her than necessary...

Hmm. Disturbing.

I've got zero in common with these protestors, but I can't help but watch this all and think in the back of my mind:

This is what they will do to us soon.

You hit the nail on the head.

When the police are trained as an occupying army of soldiers, they know the insurgents they are after and they are truly bad guys. However, they also strip the rights of everyone in the occupied territory and they kill and terrorize all the innocent people who live in that area.

All of us are in danger as the Federal government has made this war on terror into a war on us all. Any group could be suddenly fingered by a politician in officer as the “insurgents” to be targeted by the militarized police.
For this reason, we have to get this undone. It went too far.
