How secrecy over Iran's Qom nuclear facility was finally blown away
London Times ^ | 9/25/2009 | Catherine Philip

Posted on 09/25/2009 9:45:17 PM PDT by Saije

It was three years ago that American intelligence agents began picking up signs that someone was tunnelling into the side of a mountain in the desert outside the city of Qom...

Intelligence agents were on the lookout for a secret enrichment plant, reasoning that if UN inspectors were monitoring the known facility at Natanz, Tehran would look elsewhere to carry out its work.

Yesterday’s revelations about Iran’s secret uranium enrichment facility at Qom came after three years of intensive investigation and surveillance by the most trusted of America’s intelligence allies: Britain, France and Israel...

The Western allies kept quiet as the evidence mounted, determined not to disclose that they knew of the Qom plant until their case was watertight. The fiasco over intelligence leading to the Iraq invasion contributed greatly to their decision.

Last week, as Tehran finally woke up to the knowledge that the plant’s security had been breached, it rushed to declare its existence to the IAEA, hoping to pre-empt other reports and prove its openness and co-operation.

Russia was briefed on the disclosures in bilateral talks with Mr Obama at the UN General Assembly in New York... China, however, was not trusted with the information until late Thursday...

Diplomats from the three countries briefed the IAEA in Vienna yesterday morning on their findings...The IAEA officials were not the only ones who appeared blindsided by the public revelation. Mr Ahmadinejad learnt of the impending announcement at a breakfast interview with Time magazine editors in New York yesterday morning. Footage posted on the magazine’s website captures the moment he is told of what the three leaders are about to do.

Mr Ahmadinejad’s face appears to freeze, his eyes glide slowly around the room and he checks to see that the statement has been translated correctly before attempting to answer...

I find it a little too convenient that just one day after Bibi Netanyahu stole the show at the U.N. by attacking Iran and Iran’s appeasers, including by inference Obama, that the president comes out with his toughest-sounding statement to date.

OK now what we going to do about it? Are we going to destroy the Iranian terrorist regime nuclear facilities or are we just going to make another tough statement? All what Obama did today is a meaningless PR stunt just to show that he is tough. The problem is that our enemies know very well who is Obama, they know that he is a coward who cannot make any tough decision.

It is a totally meaningless PR stunt by Obama. He is a coward and will not do anything to stop the Iranian terrorist regime nuclear weapon program. Sanctions are not going to stop Iran from building the nuclear weapons, only a massive air war campaign will and Obama is not going to do so because he is coward with zero leadership who cannot make any tough decisions. Our enemies including the Iranian terrorist regime know this fact very well. They know a coward when they see one.

Nailed? He is laughing at us because he knows that coward Obama is just a PR stunt guy with zero leadership and courage to do anything effective to stop the Iranian terrorist regime nuclear program.

I think Obama was stung by our allies. Remember, the day before he gave his we’re all equal speech, interspersed with a thousand ‘I’s’, in an effort to illustrate his worthiness for deification.

Go Bibi and Co.!

I think they could have done this differently...
If you’re the US and had this info., why not have Obama reveal it during his big UN speech. Gordon Brown and Sarkozy should have also confirmed and condemned it. Then Immediately push for sanctions while Russia and China are there and at least somewhat put on the spot. Why wait until today?

Why wait until today?

Because it is nothing but a PR stunt by Obama who is a coward and will not do anything effective to destroy the Iranian regime nuclear weapons which can only be stopped and destroyed by a massive air war campaign.

A little off topic, but did you notice that the reporter prefaced the two parts of his question "A. Are you....", then "and 2....

The three dudes on the stage event...Sarkozy, Brown and Obama...was a joke. All three showed physical signs that they were uncomfortable on the stage together. The facial expression on Obama didn’t match up with any expression that we’d seen before. I don’t know if it was a meds problem or just that he didn’t like sharing the stage with someone or what.

Sarkozy does exhibit a set of nads, from time to time.

Brownie must have enjoyed the pincher move on dear leader. Remember how he was frantically trying to meet w/ der Zero? They finally had a kitchen walk’n’chat. Betcha this was the topic.

Do I get another ding, ding, ding, lol?

A. He knew he’d look like the asshat he is contradicting his previous messages as the man who raised all boats, etc, etc,
B. Due to A he had no interest in being there. Think he had no choice. Had he let Sarkozy and Brown go it alone, Zero would have looked even worse than he did.
C. Any med issue is entirely possible, but when a malignant narcissist is upstaged/cornered/denied/toys taken away/called a dootie head, beware the pouting/sulkiness/tantums/meltdowns.

If he can’t be removed from office as the usurper, I’d settle for a section 8.

I cannot believe that we are living the day when the French President is being much more courageous, wiser, and more realistic than the President of our beloved USA. What a shame and humiliation this man has brought on our nation. Our enemies are rejoicing everywhere.

Six years ago this left wing socialist, defeatist, and most incompetent delusional and arrogant person was walking the streets of Chicago smoking cigarettes and agitating he local community there and now he is our President, the President of the greatest and most powerful nation in history of mankind and he is working very hard not to keep our nation as such.

Brown has no dignity. The British should be ashamed of him as we are ashamed of Obama.
