New York governor David Paterson, back in April, upon hearing that Rush Limbaugh was leaving the state because of new taxes: "If I knew that would be the result, I wouldve thought about the taxes earlier.
New York governor David Paterson, now: "You heard the mantra, 'Tax the rich, tax the rich' . . . We've done that. We've probably lost jobs and driven people out of the state."
Don't worry, New Yorkers. Sure, you're unemployed and overtaxed, and your state government is a cesspool of bickering and corruption, but your governor chased away that scary Rush Limbaugh and all those taxes he pays. I'm sure it was worth it.
Do poor folk enjoy still living in the projects? No! Thank a Democrat!
We are proud to have Rush, and we appreciate his taxes! Thanks Gov! Anymore evil rich ya wanna send us??????
They seem to flock here Texas, though I would like to flock to TX myself! If I weren’t so upside down on my house, I would be flocking for sure!
Maybe Rush will run Patterson over next.....
I can remember back in the nineties, when California was raising taxes, and passing more & more regulations that were hostile to business, people bemoaning the loss of jobs- and the answer?
“Who cares? They all vote Republican, anyway.”
Nose
Face
Spite...
Drive people out of New York.
Well, that’s certainly correct.
My boss, a prominent billionaire, got his tax bill a few months ago, and Albany had raised his rate by $38K per day. His solution: Move to Florida and run the business over the telephone.
Ya’ll come. Hope you like temperatures over a hundred degrees.
This guy is so low in the polls that his only way up may be to promise tax cuts, huge layoffs in government and freezing or cutting gubmint spending. With Ravitch doing most of the heavy lifting - it may just happen. Maybe thats why Zero asked him not to run for reelection - advocating conservative ideals in an election cycle is not good for the RAT party.
Oklahoma is an even better deal. Our housing prices are stable and low. We’re centrally located. Your money will go much farther, we vote conservative, and we love any of the evil rich who want to come here and help grow our economy.
If someone is advising him to run to the center, he can make it hard on Cuomo in the primary; add in the race/guilt card about two weeks out from the primary September, he could win the Dem nod in a shocker. And then its Gov. Giuliani in the fall. Not that I think that's so great, but it'd be a hell of a bellwether.
Oh WOE is me... why's everybody pickin on me???
I believe Rush sold his place in NY? He said he was going too...

'Saturday Night Live' mocks Governor Paterson's blindness, past drug use by Stephanie Gaskell Sunday, December 14th 2008 |
| Saturday Night Live pushed the envelope last night with... Fred Armisen as Paterson during a segment on "Weekend Update." ...Armisen, as Paterson, says he has three criteria: economic experience, upstate influence and someone with a disability who is completely unprepared for the job - just like him. "I want to choose a senator not from the glitzy coke parties of Manhattan but rather from the shabbier coke circles of upstate new york," he said. "I'm tired of all these fancy, two-eyed smart alecs from the big city running the whole show. It's time we get someone from Utica, Syracuse or Schnectady - towns where people have something a little off about him. I mean, they don't have to be blind," he said. "I just need someone with like a gamey arm or maybe the giant gums with the tiny teeth. Let's get one of those in the Senate." The fake Paterson points out that he only became governor because of former Gov. Eliot Spitzer's prostition scandal. "Whoever is appointed senator must - like me - be caught totally off guard and be comically unprepared to take office," he said. "Come on, I'm a blind man who loves cocaine who was suddenly appointed governor of New York. My life is an actual plot from a Richard Pryor movie." | |
Paterson In A Blind Rage Over 'SNL' Skit
Governor Paterson proposes 'Obesity Tax,' a tax on non-diet sodasGov. Paterson, as part of a $121 billion budget to be unveiled Tuesday, will propose an "obesity tax" of about 15% on nondiet drinks. This means a Diet Coke might sell for a $1 - even as the same size bottle of its calorie-rich alter ego would go for $1.15. Paterson's budget also calls for a 3% cut in education spending, a $620-a-year tuition hike at SUNY and a $600 increase at CUNY - and about $3.5 billion in health care cuts, a source said. The Democratic governor will not call for a broad-based income tax boost, but he will push to restore the sales tax on clothing and footwear... State employees again will be asked to forgo their 3% raises next year and defer five days' pay until they leave their jobs, the source said. In all, Paterson will propose about $9 billion in cuts, $4 billion in new taxes and fees, and $1.5 billion in nonrecurring revenue, a second source said. The so-called obesity tax would generate an estimated $404 million a year. Milk, juice, diet soda and bottled water would be exempt from the tax... Public health advocates welcomed news of the tax, saying it would help the fight against childhood obesity. "Raising the price of this liquid candy will put children and teens on a path to a healthier diet," said Elie Ward of the American Academy of Pediatrics of New York State.

[and now, the buried lead:] The Paterson administration also announced steps yesterday to expand the state's social services net, including a 30% increase in welfare payments over three years starting January 2010, increased money for food banks and expanded access to the state's Family Health Plus program. Paterson also hopes to make it easier for people to enroll in Medicaid by eliminating face-to-face interviews and fingerprinting requirements.
Blue states leading the fall down into the permanent idiocy of socialist stagnation. (paraphrase of Marx)
"You heard the mantra, 'Tax the rich, tax the rich,' " Gov. David Paterson said Wednesday
We've done that. We've probably lost jobs and driven people out of the state."

"Ya think, Gov?"
He sure did, and he is now in sunny FL, where we welcome him!!
“Texas will gladly take in any of the evil rich that choose to come to where freedom still holds some sway.”
I’m trying to get there as fast as I can. I’m currently prepping for my law school entrance exam (hoping for SMU or Baylor). This conservative intends to make a lot of money in your state. :)
Two notes:
The problem with socialism is that, eventually, you run out of other peoples’ money. - Margaret Thatcher
Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain. - Deuteronomy 25:4
He’s been in FL for over 10 years(me too) —but last year was talking about selling his place...just wondering if he followed through with it.
I left upstate NY 20 years ago and it was the 2nd best decision I Ever made.
Moving to Texas was the best decision I ever made......
Oklahoma has ticks the size of hamsters, and mosquitoes the size of sparrows!!
And the summers are 110 degrees from June to Sept. with humidity in the 90% range the whole time!
Land sakes...don't come to OK.
The winters are worse...the wind blows all the time..and it's either snowing or sleeting constantly!!
Geesh....don't come to OK.
Not to mention a tornado every other day in the spring....
If you value your life...don't come to OK.
lol
Sounds like some New Yorkers are telling Patterson to "Flock Off".
Indeed but do we really want to ask for more NY’ers? The SE coast is full of them, and they always vote Dem.
I cannot imagine Rush pulling the lever for a dem, but I will put a qualifier on it. No Michael Moore,Barbara Striesand type rich folks need bother. They never pay their taxes anyway.......
We’re also still in the dustbowl here and our college football team loses all of it’s bowl games. :)
Perfect!
We got some NY’ers in FL we would like to send you. ;-)
The other thing you forgot to mention about OK is the people, by and large, are nice.
As bad as Patterson is, I would take him as POTUS over Hussein in a heartbeat.
Keep repeating that because you do not want a reverse migration of former Okies coming back to OK from California.
Geez - leaving California now is like the grapes of wrath.
Quotes from updated Grapes of Wrath in Mexifornia
“Ma - wherever there is a man marrying another man in a bathhouse in San Fran - I’ll be there.”
“I know this....a transgendered man got to do what he got to do.”
“Callie use’ta mean you was from california. Now it means you’re a dirty son of a b**ch. It means ya vote Democrats back into power every election. Callie means your scum. Don’t mean nothing itself, it’s the way they say it.”
“Whenever they’s a fight for AIDS or trasngendered people or illegal Latinas, I’ll be there.”
“Whenever they’re a CA cop collectin at big fat pension at age 42 in CA then double dippin from the union bankrupting the middle class in CA - I’ll be there.”
Steinbeck got a Pulitzer Prize as did NY Times writer Walter Duranty for his shilling for Joe Stalin while Stalin murdered 6 million Ukraianians. Did pulitzer just hand out prizes to communists?
Hey New York: How’s that “Hope and Change” working out for you?
Nice try.
I point out the horrible, long, deadly cold winters here in Alaska and people STILL keep moving up...
Oh, and its dark, dark, dark in the winter as well - and cold.
NOTHING!!
It’s all true...............
:’)
I wonder how many of these class ever worked for somebody who had less money than they did? I did once, and the job lasted about three weeks, because he only paid me 1/4 of what he owed.
Same experience. Still owes me about $400. Heard he lost his house too. Had enough money to buy a brick of weed, which he had right out in the open. :’)
