Did Hopper pass on? Last I heard he had big heart attack

According to the Yahoos at Yahoo and AP, it was just dehydration, and he's home and feeling much better.

Thanks—yeah I oughta do the same. I was thinking of drafting emails to his advertisers and pointing out that if I don’t use them already, I will, and if I already do patronize them I’ll do it more. “Thanks for sponsoring Howie’s show. Those
Blue Ass Group people are boycotting you. I am not, and am
urging others of our silent majority to help support you just as you support the highly rated Howie Carr Show!”

Howie Carr to hater: Bring it
By Howie Carr | Friday, October 2, 2009 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Columnists

Hell no, I won’t go.

Some moonbat posing as “Ernie Boch III” is trying to organize a boycott against my advertisers because, compared to other talk show hosts in Boston, “Howie is much different and we don’t need explanations.”

Okaaay. So much for a bill of particulars. Would it be mean-spirited of me to point out that this campaign apparently began on the last day of the month, when most moonbats are nervously expecting their kiss from either Dad or Uncle, as they sit by the phone biting their nails as they await the robo-call from CVS telling them that their new MassHealth prescriptions are ready for pick-up?

“Ernie Boch III” continues: “His motis operandi is not appreciated.”

Yes, but how about my “modus operandi”? I guess this moonbat can’t afford SpellCheck. Please, “Ernie,” do not panic. Your Halcyon is waiting at the drive-through window.

Somebody else on the site brings up a column I allegedly wrote that “associated an SJC justice of pedophilia - didn’t accuse him of it, of course, just sleazily put him near it.”

SJC justice? This was written by “Charlie on the MTA.” I think he strums his guitar and sings songs such as, “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?” in the Harvard Square station. SJC justice - could he be referring to something about a Superior Court judge, where I quoted a Globe columnist - a Globe columnist! - as saying that as a graduate of St. John’s Seminary, the judge should recuse himself from sitting on a case involving negligence charges against a fellow alum?

Charlie, hang on. Your Xanax is on the way! Ditto, your crazy check!

I know what the problem is. As one of the Herald posters said yesterday, the voices in their heads tell them not to change the radio station.

“Ernie” suggests that among those who might want to join the crusade - oh, can’t use that word, it’s Christian - are “the governor, the speaker of the house, the senate president, the mayor and other powerful people who have been targets of Howie’s unique brand of journalism.”

That’ll be quite the organizational meeting, won’t it? The Hands Off Jim Marzilli Committee joins forces with the Friends of Whitey Bulger.

Who else might join, “Ern”?

“Old Dukakoids.”

Go ahead, old Dukakoids, make my day.

The moonbats are also concerned about my “bizarre repetitive attacks on Tom Finneran.” Felon Finneran to you, pal. By the way, I’ve been bludgeoning Roman Polanski this week. I’d like to see him in a cell too . . . right next to Felon Finneran.

I guess they want me out of that AM radio station. Now, that’s funny, because what do these Birkenstock-wearing vegans think I’ve been trying desperately to do for the last, oh, four years?

Good luck, “Ernie.” If you can get me out of here, you’re a better man than me. So go ahead, make my day. Please. I beg you.

Ernie Boch Jr is on Howie’s show right now saying that for awhile someone has been calling himself Ernie Boch III
and he says he was getting a call from someone, Bob Sheridan wondering “why are you writing this?” EBJ:
“It’s not me.”

Greg (Hill): “Ernie is that you?”
Boch: “It’s not me....I’ve always had a good relationship with you” (his dad syndicated Howie on WTKK)

Boch says that fake Ernie “works at the State House”
George Regan said to EBJ “we should get a private investigator to find out who this guy is”
EBJ: “I am offering $2,000 to someone who can find this guy...”

A Boston Radio Blog post by yours truly

http://bostonradio.blogspot.com/2009/10/wtkk-shuffles-its-talk-lineup.html

WTKK Shuffles Its Talk Lineup

Having recently celebrated their tenth anniversary, Greater Media’s WTKK-FM 96.9 is
now shuffling its talk host lineup. Don Imus is being cut back to two hours, only one
of which is live, weekdays from 5 to 7 am. Former afternoon talkers Jim Braude and Margery
Eagan begin 15 consecutive hours of live and local talk from 7 to 10 am, followed by Michael Graham (10 am to 2 pm) who gains an hour, Jay Severin (2 to 6 pm) whose show gets pushed to an earlier time, and Michele McPhee (6 to 10 pm) who gains an hour. The rest of the lineup is the syndicated Curtis Sliwa from 10 pm to 1 am and Phil Hendrie from 1 to 5 am.

Two years ago WTKK thought they would be adding Howie Carr to their lineup in morning drive but a judge ruled otherwise. Now Carr, still at WRKO till 2012,
has had a blogger calling himself “Ernie Boch III” from the left-leaning
Blue Mass Group, urging advertisers to dump their spots due to the show’s content. The real Ernie Boch Jr. however, who has long supported Howie (when his family owned WXTK on the Cape, they were the first
to syndicate Howie), has denounced the “impostor” and offered a reward to find out
who he is. He told Carr, “I’m going to tell you who he is so you can terrorize him every afternoon.” The “Carr who drives Boston home” was pleased by the show of support by Boston’s “car czar”.

I don’t really listen to Eagan and Braude but at least they’ll have some local talk now to compete against the Felon (and national Laura’s first hour). McPhee, as I just noted on SaveWRKO.com, has a voice I can’t take but sometimes she can be good on local/national issues...then she resorts to talk about songs that get stuck in your head. Severin btw can be OK at times when WRKO is in a commercial break but I generally prefer Howie of course.

I do remember Severin 10-mid. or something on WRKO but he left because he had too many things (TV, etc.) to do and soon turned up as one of WTKK’s inaugural hosts when they
started up 10 yrs ago. Soon he began referring to AM radio talk as “fart radio”. For a short time when it looked like
Howie would be headed there, he and Graham seemed enthusiastic about the man who would soon be their co-worker—till the judge shot it down.

Looks like WTKK is starting to move away from the aging Imus. If they want to do the “Kiss Me I’m Imus” show again next March, they may just allow Imus to keep going on WTKK
past 7 am of course, just that day only. Of course the reason Howie almost wound up on WTKK was that Imus’ show got pulled off Westwood One/CBS Radio/WFAN flagship. They figured they could put HC in am drive. But shortly after the courts decided Howie’s fate, Imus signed with ABC/Citadel/WABC flagship and the I-Man was soon back in Boston. Supposedly he got good ratings or billing but not so sure about these days. The Imus/Severin flap was good fun; I liked the pic of Jay cowering next to a table
when Don lay into him, off air...

Hi Raccoon, FYI - it seems RKO remains strong right up to the Carlton Rest Area on I-90 going westbound @ about 3PM, then WRCN 830 is OK till the split at I-84 and then I switch over to a fairly strong WHYN 560 all the way to Springfield.

Monday night was pretty clear, I’m not sure but perhaps it accounts for the lousy reception from 830 on my return.

Ten more nights of school and counting..........

OK; by the way at sunset (about 6 pm these days?) WRKO has to change their power pattern and send the signal north and south to protect AM 680s in Toronto, Baltimore, Binghamton, Raleigh, etc. WCRN is a help this time of year. If Howie were on a big FM like WTKK this wouldn't happen.

The alleged nighttime coverage of WCRN 830--beams more to the east?

WCRN by day:

Hey that’s a cool map Raccoon!

“If Howie were on a big FM like WTKK this wouldn’t happen”

How long is Howie now obligated to RKO?

Till Sep or Nov of 2012...

btw for those wondering about Howie’s column in the Herald
I think the “empty space” in it was actually part of an ad underneath for coffee or something..it was supposed to represent the steam coming off a cup of coffee or something
