PPP poll: Palin’s favorability at 37/55 (Obama leads Palin by wide margin in head-to-head)
Hotair ^ | 9/26/2009 | Allahpundit

Posted on 09/27/2009 5:27:49 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Head-to-head with Obama, she’s steady from last month: He led her 52/38 in August and leads 53/38 now. But her favorables are in the toilet, dropping from 47/45 in July to 40/49 in August to … 37/55. The positive spin for Palin fans, I guess, is that the less the public sees of her, the worse she seems to do, which turns the conventional media wisdom on its head. Now that she’s reemerged to hit the lecture circuit, it’ll be interesting to see if she spikes up in October.

Another ominous trend: Her favorability among Republicans was higher last month than Huckabee’s even though he fared better against Obama overall (this month he trails by seven points after trailing in August by just three), but now he’s nudged past her even within the party.

He beats her among Republicans even in a hypothetical contest against Obama, winning 77 percent and losing just 13 while Palin tops out at 70 percent and loses 18. Even when you break it out by ideology, expecting the ‘Cuda to win big among conservatives, it’s a statistical wash:

Exit question: Where’s all the GOP Huck love coming from? Does he have that many fans of his Fox show? Or is he just drawing good vibes as the funny, genial southern guy, in contrast to the more polarizing personas of Palin and Romney?

I totally agree! This poll is biased and false.

SARAH has waaaaaaaaay more popularity than the liberal media wants to admit. She’s got supporters in all 50 states and around the world!

Apparently these people haven’t paid attention to how fast her Facebook page is growing. She is EXTREMELY popular! We will not let the RINOs at the RNC choose our candidate for us!

WE WANT SARAH!!!!! WE WANT SARAH!!!! WE WANT SARAH!!!!

This just another bogus bs poll to fire up their base and try to get GOP'ers to nominate someone else...someone weaker...like McCain't, to run against the kenyan.

I don't think the kenyan will have it very easy next time, based on all the lies, the economy, and he will hit a brick wall on the b.c. thing if he tries to run again...that could put him in some serious trouble...he's a one termer unless we sit on our butts and let him pull a coup.

“The bad news: Democrats can cross over and vote in Republican primaries”

CLOSE THE PRIMARIES NOW!!!!! Only registered Democrats should be able to vote in the Democratic primary and only registered Republicans should be able to vote in the Republican primary.

COMMON SENSE!!! CLOSE THE PRIMARIES NOW!!!

Palin has several years to see whether she is the next Margaret Thatcher or Jean Kirkpatrick. So far, I am impressed with her reaganesque qualities. We need someone who is a leader of the conservative movement, not someone who toadies to every whim of the press or society. Right now I believe Palin is doing the right thing. Sitting in the background and saying accurate statements like “death panels” to rile up up and infuriate the leftist-marxists that control our media and White House. She needs to build up her gravitas (how I hate that word!) like she did in Hongkong last week criticizing the FEDS role in the economic meltdown.

Agreed. Even though I like Sarah and am politically on the same page, she has been severely wounded - not killed, just severely wounded. She wasn't ready to be a VP nominee but McCain asked her and I believe she responded to the call of duty to country because that's the way she is.

It remains to be seen whether she can change people's minds. But even if she does not run for higher office, she can be a VERY effective proponent for conservative values and can very effectively lob grenades from the sidelines, forcing liberals to put up a defense or run for cover.

In August PPP polling oversampled PHD’s by 30% (based on 2008 exit polls) and depressed Palin’s numbers as her favorables/unfavorables with this group is 32/57. It was included in the statistical summary in August.

In September no info was provided on educational status in the summary but how much do you want to bet that PPP oversampled PHD’s by a sizeable amount this month as well.

About 1/2 the states have closed primaries with the remaining having some combination of closed/open. Open/Closed is a state process usually established by the Party, thus has to be dealt with on a state by state basis.

Weeks after both men had secured their party's nomination and not too many weeks before the election Reagan trailed Carter.

I know being right is better than being popular---Sarah Palin

There is more to her of course but this tenet she adheres to and lives by is what puts her head and shoulders above all the others.

The True Political Heir of Jefferson & Reagan

"Who?s the nominee anyway did I miss something?"

The duplicitous scheme of people such as seekandfind, allahpundit and their ilk is to smear and belittle Mrs Palin and their goal is to ensure she does not get the nomination.

They will fail, miserably.

So, they will register. In 2012, 0bama will run for reelection. There will be no serious challenge in the Dem primary. Democrats will flock to the Republican primaries. There’s nothing in their way except a deadline to register, and Dems break rules as a matter of principle. It isn’t hard to imagine a Democrat going to a judge and getting permission to register as a Republican on the very day of the primary election, regardless of the deadline.

You know the republican left and the state run media along with hollywood did a lot of damage to her. However I think she may have enough Rocky Balboa in her to fight all the way back.

Watch, pray and support.

then win

I’m willing to bet Carter would have smoked Reagan if a poll were taken during September 1977.

In fact, Carter had a 6 point lead one week before the election. We are too far away from 012 right now

Don't underestimate Sarah. If 0's health care takeover is stopped she's the one that will have done it.

And she's just made a remarkable speech in Hong Kong that was the subject of some nice guerrilla publicity -- it was closed to the press.

And remember, Reagan was not that popular until he was exposed to the public via debates, which I think would happen with Sarah.

And he still probably wouldn't have won if Carter hadn't screwed things up so royally.

“Weeks after both men had secured their party’s nomination and not too many weeks before the election Reagan trailed Carter.”

Of course. Reagan was a joke and a dream of the Dems...an easy landslide for Carter if he got the nomination - so...

WE CANNOT ALLOW THESE POLLS TO AFFECT US...as we did not in 1980.

Polls, schmolls.....

Huckabee is a very inside the beltway guy who has a folksy outside the beltway persona.

Huck will go along and get along, but his problem is that the inside the beltway crowd at GOP headquaters and the “pro-life” or “conservative” groups bought and paid for by lobbyists have annointed Mitt Romney as the GOP nominee.

Of course the Palin bashers on FR will take this poll as gospel. This poll, as well as most polls, is BS. It is done by a liberal org that wants to make Bozo look good. The bottom line is this: Palin isn’t running for anything, you might as well poll me or some other citizen out there who is not running for office. I would like to see what a Rasmussen poll would have to say about this.

You can know a lot about a person by his personal beliefs. Allahpundit is a self-professed ATHEIST. Sarah Palin is a devout Christian. Can we put 2 and 2 together based on this factoid ?

What is your evidence for that statement?
