More School: Obama would curtail summer vacation

WASHINGTON – Students beware: The summer vacation you just enjoyed could be sharply curtailed if President Barack Obama gets his way.

Obama says American kids spend too little time in school, putting them at a disadvantage with other students around the globe.

"Now, I know longer school days and school years are not wildly popular ideas," the president said earlier this year. "Not with Malia and Sasha, not in my family, and probably not in yours. But the challenges of a new century demand more time in the classroom."

The president, who has a sixth-grader and a third-grader, wants schools to add time to classes, to stay open late and to let kids in on weekends so they have a safe place to go.

Obama hasn’t given this much thought at all. He’s simply mouthing the words his bosses tell him. Here is the voice of union painters ~ get the teachers out of the summertime painting racket ~ too many journeymen members are out of work and those teachers have good incomes from the schools.

The problem is not that there isn’t enough time in the classroom. It’s about how things are taught, the lack of reinforcement at home, and the lack of accountability for the ineffective teachers who have the teacher’s union to defend them.

Hell, there's no FedGov authority to do half the $hit the government is doing now!

Two things amaze me about conservatives:

1) They consistently fail to realize that **conservatives** must stop “Waiting for Godot”. If were are going to save this nation we **must** get our nation's children into tuition-free PRIVATE conservative schools! We must do this NOW! We must do this ourselves! All those quotes from Lenin, Hitler, and Mao about educating the next generation are TRUE!!

2) I am amazed at how seriously clueless so many conservatives are about government schooling. We see comments on Free Republic daily from conservatives who foolishly believe that government schools would be “fixed” if only:

* The NEA were abolished
* The Department of Education were abolish
* Local control were re-instituted
* More parents volunteered in the PTA
* If conservatives controlled the school boards
* If evolution were eliminated
* We had the Pledge and prayer
* If government schools were only like they were in the early 1960s ( 50s) (40s) etc.

ad nauseam!

Government schools always have been and always will be socialism for parents who want something for FREE! Socialism can not be fixed!

ALL government schools from the very beginning in the mid-1800s are an object lesson for all children in socialism. All children learn ( just by attending) that the government can take money from their neighbor to pay for a service their parents want for free. Well?...If education can by taken from your neighbor's wallet, why not FDR's New Deal, retirement, disability, prescriptions, health care, free art and public radio, transportation, food, clothing, housing, and anything else the voting mob wants for free?

Government schools didn't make FDR's New Deal or Obamacare possible. Government schools made them INEVITABLE!!!!

My homeschooled children never spent more than 2 hours a day in formal study. The rest of the time they played and had outside activities.

Honestly...What are schools doing all day that can't be finished in 2 serious hours of study?

( We did homeschool Monday through Friday all year except for major holidays and my husband's 4 weeks of vacation.)

Another initative disguised in universal terms which is actually intended to help blacks. School means free breakfast and lunch. School means someone baby-sitting, especially important in the single mother headed house holds that make up the over whelming majority of black families these days.

No matter what Obama says, what he does always ends up mostly helping blacks, and being paid for by whites.

Several years ago a school in my county decided they wanted to do this. The parents said NO and that if the school board voted for it, they would pull their kids out. This was in a minority school district. By the time this was suggested, all the white kids had left for private schools, as well as the middle-class black kids. The school superintendant, whose idea this was, retired early.

It’s hard to get people to do something they really don’t want to do. The powers that be can use coercive methods, but it will be like pulling hens’ teeth with regard to real cooperation, and it will eventually fail, one way or another.

“to stay open late and to let kids in on weekends so they have a safe place to go.”

Maybe Bammy and his cohorts could work on the ‘safe’ part a bit harder.

Start by closing the border
Get the dope off the street
Put gangbangers away (Hellsbells, rent an island somewhere)

If you cannot get this stuff solved, going to school all year long won’t make a whit of difference. It will just formalize the “School is a welfare distribution point” that exists in too many areas now.
