"Milton Mbhele turned up in a white limousine and gave each of his four brides rings and a kiss.
South African law recognises traditional polygamous marriages. Even President Jacob Zuma has three wives."

I hope he’s packing an extra supply of Viagra.
So what happens on the wedding nite?
A fivesome?
Then its all downhill from there.
That's the easy part. How does he do them at the same time?
Bigamy is its own punishment.
Yikes! I have enough trouble with one.
I don’t know as I could take listening to four of them.
Forty-four years old and marrying four 20 somethings? I hope those girls know how to knit. They are going to need a hobby for the dry spells.
YA THINK?
Worse... they probably are in proximity to each other, and so their menstrual cycles will tend to synchronize. That means that he has FOUR TIMES as much grief when they're ALL PMS at once... and has to save up his energy for the couple of days in mid-cycle when they're all horny as hell at once.
Build a man-cave quick, dude. You're gonna need it.
You’re a genius. I never even thought about menstrual cycles.
Polygamy is not bigamy.
Simultaneously? An “I do” - “We do” exchange of vows?
Many years ago, in my 20's, I lived in a house with 12 grad students, half of whom were women. Within a couple months all the women's cycles were synched. There were times of the month when you simply DID NOT say anything to any of them, lest you have your head and genitals handed to you in pieces.
In 30 years I've never forgotten that experience. And no, it's not sexist to say it -- the women said it themselves too.
Been there, done that, no more.
You're quite right. Brain fart, sorry.
Do doctors know how this happens?
“Black South Africans are Christian only somewhat. They maintain lots of pagan ways and few mainstream Protestants or Catholics would be comfortable with their teachings..”
Same thing could be said for the fusion of Roman and Greek Paganism into Christianity that evolved into western Christianity. For instance Judaism accepted polygamy as moral and Jesus never ccondemned it. Yet it went counter to the customs of Rome so it became taboo. Martin Luther recognized that the Bible is not against polygamy.
Evolutionary psychology speculates tht reproduction is easier if it is a shared experience. So pheramones are detected by all the women living communally whether in a sorority or in a group marriage. If all the woen are fertile at once, and reproduce at once, they can sharenursing as well as be more donded as a group — thus enhancing survival and perpetuation of their genes.
Sorry for the typos, took the kids swimming today and my eyes still sting from the chlorine.
Yeah, there have been some successful scientific (double-blind) experiments with smell, sweat, pheromones, and such. Apparently women's systems secrete different-smelling sweat during different parts of their cycles. Other women's systems. when exposed to those secretions, will tend to run faster or slower, changing the timing of their cycles, such that within a few months, they're all "in sync".
I respect the volunteers, who had to walk around for a few months with a little pad tucked under their nose, containing the smelly sweat of another woman, who at least some of the time was having her period.
As a man I don't particularly mind "period smell", but that would be a little much to bear.
The rest of the month, not so much. ;-)
For a being who comes into heat monthly and bears young that take many years to mature, sharing nursing duties would be less of a problem if the heat period diversified instead of synchronized. In fact it would help ensure that the recently born were not ignored en masse at a certain time of the heat cycle.
he must be a glutton for punishment.
No spanking jokes.
ok go ahead.
Studies have also shown that women are seen as far more attractive by men during ovulation — probably due to pheramones. So a woman should time when she is ovulating and wear her clothing to get the scent on it and then hang the clothes up (changing several times in teh day). If she is in sales the chances are she will see a rise in her sales with male customers.
This only would work however if she did not use birth control pills.
I'll bet that's true. I've speculated (privately) in the past that there might be some such effect.
Certainly, on the days around ovulation, most women I know (whose cycles I'm aware of) become more energetic, sparkling, playful (even more flirtatious).
Makes all kinds of sense, if their reproductive system is trying to get itself pregnant. So it wouldn't surprise me if men's systems were tuned to "sense" when a woman was ovulating, and respond with overtures.
Do you have any links or cites for those studies?
Don’t you mean sanity pills? I can’t imagine having more than one wife!
I wonder what he would have to pay in an American Divorce court......yikes....
