Wow.
They didn’t call them a “gun safety group”.
Amazing.

Good God! If MS and CN placed third I don't want to know which states placed first and second (or maybe I do, so I don't go there by mistake)! Probably Kalifornia and NY.

Connecticut got its best score for requiring universal background checks and a comprehensive permit to buy firearms.

Background check and 2 week wait for rifles/shotguns, but permit requirement only for hand guns.

Connecticut also got a perfect score for making it harder for people not in law enforcement or security to carry guns in public.

CT is a "shall issue" conceal carry state. No restrictions on ammo, and the shelves aren't that bare all the time.

Connecticut is so safe that I had a family friend who was kidnapped and murdered in New Britain. The perp was a convicted child rapist who was released after only 8 years and looking to get his vengeance upon the first random human being he could find.

Thanks for keeping us safe liberals!

They called them an “anti-violence” group. That’s even worse! How about “anti-rights” or “anti-Constitution”?

I live in MA, and I just got my unrestricted license to carry last year. The actual process to get the license wasn’t totally horrible but that’s only because I live in a rural town with a Chief of Police that supports the 2A and doesn’t have a problem issuing unrestrictes Class-A’s.

But other wise, it totally sucks here. There are many, many excellent guns that we simply cannot buy here because the Attorney General has a ludicrous list of “approved” guns that are legal to sell. If it’s not on the list, it’s not legal for a dealer to sell.

We also still have the ludicrous “assault weapons” ban here, which means no magazines greater than 10-round capacity. And we can’t buy ammo out of state and have it shipped in.

Imagine similar restrictions on that other well-known Constitutional right - the right to free speech.

At least CONN and MASS let you get a CCW. No such luck in MD, unless you are one of the favored political elite!

Just one of the many reasons I moved OUT Of MA a long ago and do NOT plan on returning to any of these anti-American crap holes. I find it so ironic that the very area of the country that the battle for our freedoms started are now so anti-freedom... Just amazing, really.

"Report: Conn., Mass. have third toughest gun laws"

I think the NRA has a few more members than those states have anti-gun citizens.

Here in Georgia we have subdivisions larger than those states.

And we can’t buy ammo out of state and have it shipped in.

Seems to me the constitution explicitly bans that kind of restriction on interstate commerce.

"And we can’t buy ammo out of state and have it shipped in."

Is that something new? When we lived in MA, I learned to reload, and ordered in all sorts of reloading components and equipment.

Does that now apply to finished ammo only -- or have the libs clamped down on reloading components, too, since we escaped from our "MA exile"?

Sorry to hear that you cannot get a CCW in the People's Republic of Maryland. I also read that the Soviet Socialist Republic of Stalinois does not allow CCW either.

Down here in the south, one can get a CCW to protect his/her family against the trash that is out there.

The only advice I have for you is that you consider moving to an American state, and get away from the communist operatives that currently control your life.

Yep, took me all of 24 hrs to get a ccw in NH. FIlled out the form, dropped it off at the local police department and got a call the following morning telling me to come pick up my CCW. BTW, you can open carry in NH, whether you are a resident or not. Along with no sales tax, no income tax, no permanent dem majority, why wouldn’t you move to NH?

As with most everything else that comes from the Brady Bunch, their ranking is both foolish and ludicrous. MA tries its hardest to turn everyday law-abiding citizens into felons, while trying hard not to inconvenience their real, dangerous felons too much. Maybe that's because so many of their criminals are in the legislature. A case of 'honor among thieves and other Democrats', or simply professional courtesy, I guess...

CT is very different in their approach (although, being a Democrat-infested state, it is a constant battle to keep the liberties that we do have). Unlike MA, I can buy and/or transport ammo (or reloading components) without having a permit, and unlike in MA, I don't risk a felony arrest for inadvertently having a single empty shell casing in my car or on my person.

I regularly drive between CT and the free state of NH, and the hour or so during the trip when I'm in MA feels like I'm constantly in jeopardy - it makes no difference whether I'm legally transporting my firearm(s) from state to state according to federal law, or whether I have no firearms or ammo in the car. I always breathe a sigh of relief and count the blessings of Liberty when I hit the Vermont line...

Good stuff! MA laws are no doubt repressive! The single empty shell casing you mentioned is an example of libs gone awry. It’s also another way for the libs to generate revenue, let’s not forget that.

As you know, be very careful driving through the ‘People’s Republic’.

What’s so funny is like 2/3rds of the states score in the single digits on Handgun Contol’s website. I moved to CT from NJ, so it’s a big step up. If I ever move again, it will be to a state that doesn’t infringe on my rights.

"NJ is better than CT? That’s surprising."

No way in hell is NJ better than CT. CT is pretty cool when it comes to getting a nonresident CCW permit, as they don't honor other States permits. Meaning, you can only carry in CT if you have purchased their nonresident permit. I think the fees are around $35.00. Just show a certificate of proficiency, fill out money orders for the various fees, and send it to DPS in Middletown. As long as you can send a copy of ANY CCW you have from another state with the documents and required fees, be it your resident state, or a nonresident CCW from another state, you'll be good to go.

Similarly, MA is slightly more friendly than NJ, but harder than CT. In MA, a nonresident CCW is only good for one year, and costs $100. You have to prove proficiency through a MA certified class, provide a copy of your HOME state CCW, apply, and then go to MA for an appointment with the Firearm's Board in Chelsea, I believe. If you're an NJ resident, you're screwed for a MA nonres, because NJ just won't issue a CCW to just anyone without an explanation of "justifiable need", whatever the hell that means. If you're from another state, you have a snowball's chance in hell of getting a NJ nonres. They are virtually nonexistent.

I strongly encourage anyone that is interested in applying for CCW's to read this link by Robert Endorff. It clearly distinguishes the discrepancy between discretionary licensing (NY,NJ, MA,CA, MD, IL,WI.etc.) and shall-issue (basically the rest of the country.)

I think the fees are around $35.00.

Just be aware that the idiot-controlled (um, I mean, Democrat-controlled) legislature just doubled the fees, effective October 1.
